NEED HELP CAN'T DRIVE

Are you having fun yet? This is the fun part of running a high performance boat. Set up and testing.
What the height looks like on the trailer is not a good representation of how the water is flowing when the boat is at speed.
I would plug the top 2 holes and try that. On my trimate I was running at just over 2.5" from the bottom. Still had great water pressure. If I could have gone higher I would have.
 
NEXT TEST RUN

Before the next test run I'm installing the scoop kit on the water inlets then up 1" on the motor. I will let yall know how that did.
 
Yes, that is about the size of it, you are getting air in the top holes. The water does come up a bit, but that is why you need the scoops. Plugging holes does work. I think the scoops are better as they will redirect spashing water as well. However, if you run in marshy waters they may plug. I sometimes pass thru a marsh channel near our cottage but make a point of checking my gauge along the way. So far I have never had them plug.

On Daren34's Diplomat, We put a new johnnyrude 2.0l 140 v4 on it and a 22p omc Raker prop(high rake, no cup 13 1/4 dia). Put a cmc 6 inch hydraulic jack plate within 3 times going to the lake due to the chine walk. I put the motor one hole from the top of the jack plate, and I wish I would have put it all the way to the top. We never had water pressure or overheating problems and did not plug any of the water holes or run a scoop! The higher the better as far as the diplomat was concerned. The boat would bow steer with the trim all the way down, but really lightened up with trim. The 140 would turn 6300 rpm with the 22 raker and would hit the govenor with a 20 raker.
I miss that little boat

OK gang made the adjustments and the second test run today. Water pressure was good at 18 lbs. Top speed is the same at 61. Chime walk may be just a tick better if any. Hole shot still totally sucks. It takes forever to plane. The RPM's are low at 5100 at WOT. Now what do I try? My plan is to go up on the jack plate another 1/2". Install the hole shot plate and try a 22 pitch rather than the 23 pitch. I still can't lift the nose up more than 2 quick taps on the button from the full down position with out starting to chime walk really bad. It has no cavatation problems and no rooster tail as well. What do yall suggest for the next changes? Thanks Fred!
 
Work through the chinewalking a trim it up a bit more as long as your not shooting lotsa roost your trim is still at an efficient angle. Once you learn to drive through the chine it'll calm down. Sometimes the old saying is true When in doubt trim it out..

Hey Wicked, Your prop is on it's way. UPS said you would have it Monday. Don't change anything! Make a run with your old prop and get a gps reading and then just change props and get another gps reading. Then call me and we will go from there. Thanks, boatman

13 and 3/4 X 23 pitch Laser II with hub kit

Second prop test run

OK it looks like my 13.75 X 23 laser is a bit much on the pitch? Lil slow up and out of the hole after the tail stand. Top end is not bad at 61 but only turns 5100 to 5200 RPM. The laser is Rock solid in turns up to 55 mph with the bow down and it never shows any signs of slipping. Now trim the bow up a tick at 55 and hold on because she starts to chine walk from 57 to 61. Now for the second prop. 14.25 X 21 Hustler. The hole shot got way better after the tail stand. It took off quicker but that prop spins up really super fast. It wanted to blow out so I had to back off the power to keep it hooked each time. Felt like it had better mid range pull when you apply the power but the top end was a lil slower at 56 to 57 mph turnimg 5600 to 5700 RPM. The second prop did not corner as well as the first. It had a side to side rocling sensation in turns over 45 mph. I feel like a prop in between the two will be my best shot. OK Gary time to work your magic my friend. What do you suggest a 14.25 X 22 3blade SS or 14 X 22 4 blade SS ? Thank you for all the help !
