NEW BECKMATE 350zt PICS

Imho Doug is trying to do something but to what extreme, eliminate it completely or have another big company buy it up just might be whats going on. Im keeping what i have because its pre Doug

Now i am curious as to why they are so close in pricing maybe one of the combs guys could enlighten all of us as to why. As for Smith beeing a master mind behind the OBX i never said that he was, was stating that it came out after he took over. Maybe MR. Smith isnt going in hte right direction or maybe he is it is way to early to tell either way all I know is that i do llike the new look of the graphis and interior it has freshened the boats up ( for my taste ) as I stated earlier i was thinking of a different brand a couple of years ago and now i cant wait to get my new mate (270 convincer) I am sure there are pleaanty of other potential buyers who think the same way I do and i am sure there are plenty of people who think the other way. ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY NEXT PURCHASE WILL BE A MATE

I can't say I really like the graphics, but I am glad to see the interiors inproving.

Not sure I'll stick with C'mate next time around. I'm looking 30ft with a single.

Only Doug knows what the big plan is. For Coop's and other employees sake I hope it works out.

My guess is that there are a number of prospective Baja buyers out there just waiting for a new boat models to get into.

Ok it is a buisness but you are loosing old checkmate diehard customers, if you want a checkmate by one,if you want a baja by one, dont make it from both. Only people that dont know the history of checkmate will by it because its just a boat

That statement does'nt even make any sense. Why would anyone lose customers because they don't like some of the new models. Just because GM comes out with a new ugly line of minivans, does'nt mean I won't buy a vette. Just because some people don't like the Baja looks, what does that have to do with the looks of the original Checkmate looks?

Wildman you are correct, and that is a good explanation i didnt think my statement all the way through. ill own that one.

I did'nt mean any disrespect. I just think that opinions on new models should not have any negative bearing on the old style models we all love. I like the old style best also, but you gotta admit, Way more people bought Bajas the last ten years then Checkmates. If Checkmate can get some of those buyers since nobody else sells them, then it may keep Checkmate around so we can enjoy their boats for years to come. Probably not gonna be too many boat companys around in a year or two.

You are correct, a crap load of Baja's where sold. They where mass produced the sales reps got off their can and did their job and they used heavy advertisement. They made fast cash on a low budget performance boat the the every day joe could afford. That's why you can pull in a cove and see 10 the same.

I really dont think the new beckmates will generate much sales from former Baja owners. I think if they decided to buy another boat they will look for a different brand. I belive from what I have read on other sites that the Baja owners are feed up with all of it.

Baja
Baja by Fountain
Now Beckmate by Checkmate

I dont even think Doug Smith was involved with baja in the last good years where they made a killing on boat sales. I thought he got out before it almost went under years back.

Hey were good!

Checkmate is doing things with baja molds that baja could never do. I just hope that its not a permanent thing to use old molds if its just to make it through tough times I have no problem with this. If GM was to cut back their line and concentrate on small pos economy cars to get through tough times let them do it. One day things will turn around and quality new designs will emerge eventually.

Beckmate

There's one thing you've failed to take into account in your attitude/opinion:

"At Baja, 'Speed changes you.'"

everyone is busting on these new beckmates, how about some props on a great great boat from checkmate!!!!

this is one of the best boats in its size if you ask me, it must be a rocket ship, has tons of space and looks like a mate!! i love it:bounce::banana:

I am not a big fan of the OBX I like a swim platform to sit on and drink cold beers. Its a good looking boat and I like the 4 bolsters with a bench. Once you have a swim platform to sit on its hard to give it up. My favorite new boat is the 2400 closed deck with a wildman set up 75 mph all day 1 300
