I joined up on the forum as I hope by the end of this week im the proud owner of 1986 Eluder powered by a Merc XR4. Im also looking for some direction as I have not owned a boat in 15 years.

The boat Im looking at has been completely gone through at some point or exceptionally well maintained from stern to bow. In 2007 the engine was rebuilt.

His price is 4k.

Im looking at this for a ski, tube, kneeboard boat for my family on the cheap. 2 adults and 2 pre teen kids.

Here are the pictures.

Please give me your honest opinion. Boat has been out only twice this year. Current owner is selling to buy a pontoon.

EDIT... this will be my 1st outboard powered boat. I know only enough to get me in trouble but I have been building and dragracing chevy based care for many years.

Thanks
Ray

Welcome! Check craigslist for tubes and stuff on the cheap. Add your location to your profile, maybe some people local to you have something. I met a couple of members from here a couple of times this year and had a great time with all our families getting together for a day on the water.

Welcome! That sounds like a fair price on that boat and it should meet your family needs,BTW I boat on Lake Martin.

Nice looking boat!! welcome my wife has family in wetumpka al and we hope to make it up there soon.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Well..... sale may not happen. He took the boat out last night just to be sure all was well and he had issues. Im going to post over in the outboard section and see what the symptons may lead to. I may be able to get this boat on the cheap.

:welcome: The boat looks good, that interior is not original so it must have been re-done at some point, these Eluders are great boats and work good for what you plan to use it for, if the compression test checks out buy it :thumb:
