New Unique Project

As many of you know, I am selling my Predictor because I have been fortunate enough to acquire a unique boat. If anyone on the forum or from the factory has any information about this please let me know.

The boat is described as a 21 foot Action, there is a badge on the transom indicating that this was a brief collaboration between Checkmate and Pacemaker Yachts. I found out from some guys on Scream & Fly that there were possibly 4 built and there is only one other still around that I am aware of.

In this thread, I will detail what I am going to do with the rigging, set up, etc.

Here are a couple of shots of the boat before I started to tear into it.

I am putting on a Stainless Marine 12 inch engine bracket and my 6 inch jackplate

Hats off to my wonderful wife for having the patience to remove the stickers on the side (I have had reproductions of this done in a smaller format to put on the boat where the Checkmate logo normally goes)

I will continue to update with pictures as I make progress, tomorrow the boat will be buffed to bring the shine back and I hope to start with placement of some of the mechanical (trim pump, battery box, fuel filter/water separator and then the engine bracket and jackplate with midsection next weekend.

so here is what i have been able to find out about it.

apparently there were 8 built, possibly a design loosely based on a checkmate. this was sometime in the early 80's in Hollywood Florida, where it seems everything was being splashed at that time. so i am not sure if Checkmate really had any involvement in this or not. I will post a picture of the badge that has the reference to Checkmate and Pacemaker and a Checkmate serial number on it when i have time.

thanks for all the comments.

My only comment is I have a Checkmate, and my boating buddy bought a 40' Pacemaker aft-cabin cruiser, so most weekends I drive down the river 20 miles in my Checkmate and dock alongside his Pacemaker!

Chris - did you buy this from Don L?
I was in the Class 7 race with Mr Determination when he overturned his Velocity at Solomons last October.
He's a great guy - only met him for the first time that weekend. Someone was watching over him and that boat that day for sure!
Hope to see him in a few months at the first race.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures of it soon. Keep up the great work! :thumb:

I did, and it is possible that I might be in the boat with him for a couple of the races next year.. Don is a great guy and I hope that he gets the Velocity squared away.

Only had a few minutes to chip away at things today. I got the switch panel installed and did a quick test fit of the gauges... would have installed them, but i am waiting on some sexy red bezels...

Also am just about ready to mount the engine bracket and jackplate, maybe one night this week it will be above 35 here in NH :brickwall:
