No Power

I have a '92 starflight w/ a merc 200 v6. I had a bad stator replaced it and went to direct oil and gas mix. Now I have no power at all. I can idle fine, but as soon as i get on it, the engine dies. I set the timing again but that did not help. Anyone have any ideas.

Is it true that when the stator goes bad, your switchboxes have to be replaced also? I just don't understand how the engine ran better with the old stator, and now the motor with the new stator runs like crap. I tested both the new and old stator, and the old stator was definetly bad and the new stator's readings were as spec'd in the manual. Also, does it matter how the stator is bolted down? Thanks.

what do you mean - how its bolted down?

check your switchboxes i believe there is two on that engine - one behind the other.

just another thought - hows compression?

compression is around 115 to 118 for all 6 cylinders. And the stator can fit into place in any position, meaning there didn't seem to be any one position the stator had to fit into. I installed it so that the wiring would reach to the switchboxes. Is there a method to check to see if the switchboxes are bad?

I would put it back the way it was, and it's not always necessary to change power packs at the same time.
