Pulsare 2100 Prop

Has anyone tried a Mercury 4 blade ET pro on a 2100 Pulsare?

I have a 2100 with a 300X (SM, 1.62gears, 6 in setback) and I was thinking about getting this prop but I don't have a clue if it is suited to the boat.

I also am not sure if I should be looking at a 26" pitch or a 28" pitch.

I am currently running a 25" Trophy plus which has been reworked by Rich Boger (It is probably closer to 26" pitch). The boat is hard to handle after 75 mph but I have hit 84 (GPS) running at 6200 RPM. There is probably a little more left in the boat at that point, but I haven't had the right conditions to trim it further and hold it wide open.

Does anyone know about the 4 blade et? Will it reduce chine walk or make it worse?

Do you think 26" or 28" would be better. Thanks for any thoughts or info!!

Joe

Not sure about that prop, or set up. I know on mine the Tropy plus would chine walk like crazy. I purchased a 4 blade turning point, and chine walk is no longer a problem. They are supposed to have a 27" model available shortly.

Turning point

I have read the postings on the Turning Point and I thought that the 27 would be the right pitch.

I also tried a Power Tech TR04 27". This prop had absolutely NO hole shot. I am sure if I had more than 3 people in the boat it would not have planed off. I guess the exhaust holes need to be opened up on that prop. BTW anybody want to purchase a TR04 27" used only once for 20 minutes?

I am hoping that the Turning Point does not react the same way on my boat.

Can only speak for my set up. Running 2" below the pad 10" back, tucked in she jumps right up and goes, no hesitation.

I would probably start with the 27 or 28 on yours.

I have a 2100 Pulsare with a Honda 225 on it. I also did not like that power tech prop on mine. It didnt handle well at all. But what did find out is that the higher i put my engine the better it handled. Do you have a hydaulic jack plate? Dont know much about the Merc but ive been there will this Pulsare, very recently actually. Ive tryed about a dozen different props on this things and i think i have it just about figured out.

Turning Point at this time is also working on switching there hub system over to the square hub like Merc. After this is done, it will no longer be a problem putting these props on Merc's fat shaft motors. Looking to see the new hub system and the 27" prop in the spring! By the way, I have run the 25" on 3 different boats and the hole shot is awsome! Except for on my 23' Enforcer which needed about 4" less prop. boatman

I will email Scott this link,He runs the same boat and motor as you,the only difference is that he has a 11inch setback,if you watch my video Checkmates gone wild you can see how he pops his right out of the water,,Hey did I see you on the Mullica on Labor day??

Hey Joe
The TRO4 vent holes are always too small. They don't have a PVC system so they start conservatively. I was going to drill mine and then I tried a thicker thrust washer that moved the prop further back on the shaft. WAY better holeshot. Not sure if it can be done with the square bore. How did it run otherwise?
Send SCT a message, he had the same setup and I vaguely remember an ET prop being mentioned. He got some nice top end numbers.

Mark

The TR04 as I said had no hole shot. In addition top speed and RPMs were off.

The boat seemed to be flat, no lift with my standard trim and jackplate settings.

To be honest, I didn't have it on the engine long enough to experiment. I was expecting to meet up with some friends later in the day and I went back to the Boger Trophy 25.

I will send a message to SCT on the ET. Thanks.

Joe

No, as long as it is mounted solidly. 1/8" or 1/4" is not going to make any difference. What it does is allow more exhaust thru what is called the "labyrinth seal" in technical terms. I have custom washers that I make with exactly a 1" hole. I have used them for years on my boats to adjust holeshot. Never had a problem. I read about it in a story about drag race boats. They actually split the prop nut in half to allow even more room.

Before you ditch the TRO4 try it at a higher engine height. It should run about 1 1/2" higher than the Trophy. Holeshot, RPM and top end should all improve.

Mark,

I am at the top of the height adjustment. I agree that I could probably run higher but I am not sure what my plan is to increase it.

One of the members Craig, suggested a stationary jackplate with an eight inch setback and then remount my CMC hydraulic jp. That would give me a total of 13-14 inches of setback.

I also thought about a replacement 10" CMC hydraulic. That will give me a little less setback but no additional height. Its an expensive way to go!

I think the setup is not where it should be because the boat is hard to handle and not as fast as it should be. I also need more seat time in this beast!

Thanks for your help!

Joe

Just stack the jackplates or add a stationary setback bracket. They are not hard to find. Pretty sure SCT was running 14".

I had a 2100 Pulsare set up with a 5 1/2" cmc manual, a 6" Bob's hydraulic, and a set of 2" spacers. It worked great! I could jack the prop out of the water if I wanted to. When I found the magic spot, I pulled the boat out of the water, measured from the ground up to the cav. plate, then raised the hyd. up all the way and adjusted the manual back down to that measurement. Never had to worry about jacking to high after that. I only wish I had better props back then. Might have broke 80! boatman

Seamate, you definitly need more setback with the 300x. You should be running a minimum of 10" but 12" would be better. The additional set back will allow you to raise the lower unit out of the water even higher and get cleaner water flow to the prop. Your top end speed will increase and your handling will become better. Wildman has run a 300X on his Pulsare 2100 with over 14" of setback into the 90's!!
