Question for twin outboard guys

Still a lot more to do to get it more than just "lakeworthy", but now that the engines are running good, and boat is behaving on the water, the motivation is there. Love the sound of the twins singing at full throttle when synced up.

Next step is to get it out on the sound, and up to RI on the bay

Thought I would share a little prop info. Been messing around with differnet props, and engine heights.

Was spinning a pair of 25 Mirage props. Set up on the lake, and jacked engines a little to get right RPM. Hole shot was weak ( no vent holes), but cruising to full throttle was all great. Boat felt rock solid with minimal tab at cruise, no tab at full throttle. Speedo was reading mid 60s

My son and I took the boat out on the sound last weekend. Went out past Fishers Island, which is open water. Approx 2-3 foot chop, little bigger once we cleared land, and boat handled great. Opened it up a couple times, and it handles a LOT better going full bore, than cruising....not doubt about it

Ended up lowering the engines about 3/4", which helped the props stay hooked during holeshot in the waves.

Today I put a pair of Laser 23s on it. I expected to need 25s, and had hoped the smaller blade diameter would increase the RPMs compared to the Mirage

Found the holeshot was awesome, RPM was a little on the high side, but not as much as I expected. Boat handles great, sharp turns, quick acceleration ect, no problems. I found it interesting that on a full speed run, once the engines hit max RPM, and boat isn't accelerating anymore, the bow would start to slowly bounce and progressively get worse. Almost like the Laser's couldn't hold the bow at speed. The Mirages had no problem holding the bow up.

My youngest took a snapchat video, and I guess they show the speed right on the video. The speedo was showing around 57-58, but GPS was showing 64.5. Thats a good thing, wonder what boat was actually doing when speedo was showing mid 60s. Maybe it was breaking into the 70's:bigthumb:

I did figure out what was going on with the semi cleaver props. Turns out the right hand props are Yamaha drag props, and the left prop is a Ron Hill semi cleaver. When putting them side by side and really looking, you can see the differences in pitch, cup, and blade cord. Just not going to work

Now that it's running pretty good, I think I might put the 1.73 lowers back on it, and run the pair of RH drag props, and see what this thing can do.

All the lakes around here have 45 MPH limits anyways, so the Mirage/Lasers might not be the fastest, but I'm finding they do make the boat behave much better cruising speeds
