Replacement throttle control

Can anyone suggest a good replacement for the Mercury Quicksilver 3000 side mount throttle. One that would look nice and offer smoother shifting with more of a detent. I've seen what might look like some good ones on line but I'm looking for any personal opinions. Thanks

Lavorsi makes a billet replacement side mount throttle they work well and look great. You can get them with different color anodized shift knobs It doesn't get much better for a side mount, They accept 33c cables which you have with your 3000. Check it out at Livorsi web site. I am a Livorsi dealer, if interested I can give you a good deal and have it shipped direct from Livorsi located in Illinois

I have the same issue on my Convincor, and my question for MKHammer and EZStriper is:
How easy is the swap and how do you make it look right? Livorsi used to make a shifter pod for the side mount, but they don't stock it any longer.

You mean how to cover the hole in the side when you go to a top mount shifter? The swap is not bad it may require longer cables, Depends on your skills to fabricate. and to cut and drill fiberglass. I can give you dimension location where to cut it out. I mark and drill holes at the 4-corners. Then use a air sawzall with a thin blade to make the cut. I mask aroud the hole to help prevent scratches if I slip.. As far as the side hole goes we glue in a plug and glass it in and gel coat it. Match color, color sand and buff the gel coat to match.
Of you can get come aluminum plate and fabricate a plate and polish it, square, or round , bevel the edge with a router, radious or square the edges. Put a remote radio control ijn the middle of it or something, I don't like a plate on the side but if you are creative you may be able to come up with something that will look good. There may be other suggestion by other forum members.

I never have seen a 2-handle side mount throttle shifter, If there is one their not popular.

The livorsi side mount is the direct replacement for the 3000 and 4000 shifter.
If you stuck with the side mount the livorsi is the only way to go. They make a nice quality unit.

I like the Livorsi side mount controll. I did find this from Dana Marine.....

At 775$ Its definately pricey and I don't know how easily it converts from the quicksilver shifters but it is dual lever side mount if thats what you're specificly looking for. It does say its mercury compatable.

Thats the one !!!, i was real interested in it.. until i saw it was almost 800 bucks!!:eyecrazy:

I have never seen that before it looks good. I'm also am a distributor for CP performance if anyone interested I can check into a better price. The Livorsi is almost half the cost and I know it works well. I would be curious on feed back on the cp item. It looks like a new item manufactured by Hardin Marine, My opinion Livorsi is better stuff. I will call Rick at CP today and report back.
