Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

Yeah, we are always hearing on the news about bodies being found in the river. Good place to dump them if you are into that, with a strong current, they don't stick around long. You don't even want to drop your keys in the river, gone in a matter of seconds.

Thats why I like my calm Rideau River. Not too deep but great for top speed runs!!! No bodies here either. I have heard people talking about a boat down underneath right out in front of me and a seaplane somewhere around here...

I do most of my boating on the Bay of Green Bay, a little on Lake Michigan and some small lakes around the area such as Winnebego, Peshtigo flowage, etc. Usually once a year I try and get to Forest Lake, White Bear Lake, and parts of the St. Croix.. My sister/brother-in-law live in the Hugo,MN area. Rick

Rick, you actually have time to boat even with being with the dealer? How much?

I do most of my boating on Lake Allatoona in Georgia, about 20 miles north of Atlanta. Its a a resveroir with approx. 270 miles of shorline. During the week you can run wide open for as long as you like, until a 30+foot cruiser comes by. , in the weekends it can get busy though. On any weekday you can run all out as much as you please.

I do most of my boating here on the Chain o Lake in Northern IL. Will be on Lake Michigan this summer for sure.

I do most of my boating on the susquehana river in Pa. I boat right by Three Mile Island the nuclear power plant. Everybody always says my checkmate has a certain glow to it.

Hey Mike, while growing up my father had a boat we ran on the Fox river. I remember seeing some interesting stuff there, ran aground many times. Believe it or not I use to water ski on that river! We lived in Cary so we put in below the dam. I've been on the chain of lakes many times, not in about 20 years. Have they cleaned them up at all?

Z.. We always make time for boating. I started the GBYC Poker Run, participate in other events. Always make time for fun. Usually don't get out on a weekend until late, but we still get out!

Actually, if you count sea trials and repair estimates, etc. we go boating everyday!

Ok... I was just wondering with all that busy stuff you must do. I was wondering about your own personal boating with family and stuff. I can believe that you would be out almost everyday with the Marina... I'd love that job man!!!

I live on Prior Lake which is a suburb of Minneapolis Minnesota. The lake has 22 miles of shore line but because it is close to a major metro area it can be very crowded on weekends, especially for speed runs- so I do most of my high speed boating during the week. It is great to have my boat on my back yard dock , lower the lift hop in and go for an evening cruise and look for other boats to run against because Prior lake is the only major lake in the Minneapolis area that has no speed limit during the week so a few fast boats make it down here for a run or two. There are also alot of fast bass boats on the lake because there is at least one tournament every week. So far the pulse is unbeaten, but there was a 28 foot Eliminator Daytona with two brand new 575 hp blown 502,s that would have waxed me if he wasn't taking it easy because he was breaking in about $70k worth of motors. I see only about 4 or 5 other checkmates a year in this area but at the Minneapolis boat show a new Checkmate dealer arrived in the area, he also is selling the new Hydro-Stream boats. I hope to be boating in about a month when the ice goes out.

Hey Bill ! thats cool! Hey, If your ever in the Philly area this summer and want to get together sometime bring your check or your welcome to come out on mine!

You have been a great help in the other forum, thanks

The Chain is not bad the Foxwaterways had done a good job getting it cleaned up. It is nothing like it used to be. I grew up on Bluff lake across the channel from Baker Marine. I like it the drags on thurs at Blarney's is a blast. I stay off the island and anchor up by the track. Sold my Blown 509 Pickle fork for this 251 Convincor so I can still get out on the chain and get out to Lake Michigan also.
