Side vent question.

Was waxing the boat today and one of my fellow boating buds stopped by
and he says all your vents on both sides of the boat are all facing forward.
So I say yea so what, He says one side suppose to let air in and the other
out. I told last year when I buffed the boat I took all that stuff off and when
reinstalled I just thought I needed to force as much air in the engine
compartment as possible. Anybody heard of this or is it a bunch of crap.

Thanks for taking a look for me Keith. The more ya think about the more it makes sense. Never even gave it a thought before. Maybe Ill be as fast as
some of those Facebook boats now.
 
The added rpm and, thus, the increased exhaust velocity, parrallelled against the triangulated circumference of the exhaust stream emitted from the throw hole openings, in conjunction with the nearly horizontal (in relation to the prop hub) aspect of the propeller blades, should make your PF increase in proportion to the possible undulation of the boundry layer (Chop). Closer examination of any hull openings (Above the waterline) will only become necessary if, when you drop the loud lever, the engine hatch, which must be 'down and locked' while underway, begins to become concave (Drawn toward the intake of the powerplant). I hope that your buddy went straight to the garage refridgerator and procured a couple of drafts, one for each of ya, before or at the least right after offering criticism of the vent orientations!

this subject. I knew you were the only one that could explain this so
eloquently and put my mind to rest on this matter.
