ok... so I'm FINALLY putting the last bit of kit together for the convincor... and I'm thinking I made a boo boo here.

I really need someone with hatch clearance knowledge on a 251 as I was looking through and I have no pics or anything to see how much room I had before.

My new setup is a edelbrock victor 454-r manifold (dominator flange and a fairly tall manifold) with a 4500-4150 adapter on it (which is another 3" or so) and my holley double pumper above it.

It has been so long since I started tearing this boat apart for the resto I have no clue if this is gonna fit or not but it looks really tall. Obviously I can probably drop back to a standard victor jr manifold and should be fine, or possibly buy a new gen 3 1050 dominator which is probably the better performance option, but I've talked to quite a few people and this setup is really really good for the range I'm looking to work in.

Few engine specs if it helps
502 mag block bored .030 over
eagle 540 forged stroker kit, 9.0:1 compression
custom marine kinetics cam, very aggressive and needs dry exhaust but don't have all specs handy atm
afr 325v2 heads
johnson lifters and scorpion 1.7 rockers with a stud girdle and all

The other thing that would help would be anybody with pictures of a bbc in a convincor with gil/mercruiser manifolds and risers, a shot from the side to where you can see the level of the hatch opening in the background....

My hatch sits on the ledge around the hole. I could lay a straight edge across and know if it. Clears with out the hatch

That I'm aware of, just engine isn't in my boat, it's still on the stand.

Any chance if you get a moment you could get the distance from the base of the intake manifold to the hatch or a rough estimate?

I ran that same intake on my 548 with a 1" spacer and had plenty of room, but that was a 253

Wish it was a 251 then I'd be warm and fuzzy again LOL

My adapter is 2" thick, but I'm only running a 3" tall filter on top of the carb.

If anybody gets bored though and wants to go take a tape measure out to their 251 I'd be appreciative. Basically need the valley of the block (that the intake manifold sits on or a real good approximation from) to the rail that the sun pad sits on.

I'm so deep into this last go round on parts I just really really really don't wanna buy a new intake manifold or 1050 carb atm to get rid of the adapter/spacer. Hardin has really been smacking the account hard lately :yell:

And it's actually super close to being ready to go back in the boat as well.

I'll be surprised if yours doesn't fit. My 251 has an edelbrock performer rpm plus a 1" spacer, a 850dp Holley & a tall flame arrestor & still fits under the stock sun pad. Set it in, get out your straight edge & find out.

I bet it will fit under the hatch. I know the 251 is narrow but sits very tall in the water . I have a blower under the hatch of my 283 with no rubbing on the hatch. Also is a 253 with a blower on here and no clearance issues . Put it in and go enjoy it !
