Took the boat out today for a hot lap

Well i got out of work early today and took the boat out. I just went down to the small stretch of river by my house. I got there before all the damn ski boats so I figured I would wind it up a few times.

The numbers I saw don't jive. I think my new tach may be junk. :irked: I saw 64.8 on the GPS. The tach said 6200-6400. That only 1-4% slip. Now I know that is not correct. Entering the numbers and using 12% slip it shows the RPM @ 6900. And boy the engine sure sounds like it too. :D I guess the nose cone didn't slow me down any like they usually do.

Not to change the subject,But do still plan on being up to Sandusky on next Friday Matt.My original plans has changed so I'll be there with boat alone and I'll be livin out of it for the weekend.Hope you make it.Jeff

I'm spinning a 21p Lazor II with 1.87 cle and my speed runs almost a perfect 1 mph to 100rpm if that helps ???????????????????????

We will either be there on friday or Saturday. I forgot to take it off at work so I may have to play hooky on Friday. I want to go out to put in bay. We have never been out on that water. I'll have to find out and get ahold of you.:cheers:

i thought you were seeing upper 60's..... i bet that mota does sound wicked @6900! are you still turning a 21?
so the cone didn't slow you down? i think i will be doing something for mine today- have two options. one w/ cone and one w/out.

The GPS is correct. I have used it in my truck and it is spot on. Also I get up to 65'ish all the time. I think the tach must be off.

Ross, I am running the 21P right now. I did run a 24P 4 blade last year and saw 67's. I didnt like the slower acceleration though.

I'm sure you already double checked this, but if you had the tach on the wrong selection you would see zero when the motor's off, but would be off when underway. Not sure what the options are, it'd have to be off by one pole or so.
Like I said, I'm sure you checked, just wanted to throw it out there.

at least you got to run your boat yesterday!!

i had a half day at work, i had real good intentions of testing 3 different props on the senator, but it was really windy, which probaly was a good thing cause i pulled some plugs and found my motor was a lot leaner than i thought it was........so im kinda glad i didnt take it out and start doin speed runs!!

hey matt if you need any props to barrow im startin' to get a collection!!

i would have guessed the acceleration and low end would be much better w/ a 4 blade 24 than any 3 blade....what rpm's were you running with the 24 and what was it? i have thought about picking up a trophy plus to try but havent been convinced of it yet:thumb::sssh:

Mine pulls pretty hard with a 24P 4 blade trohpy plus. I can't image it with a 21. I even had 8 people in the boat last week and was able to get the boat out of the hole fairly easily, considering the weight it had to push.

A 4 blade WILL hook up better in the right application. The 21 Im running snaps you back at any speed. And I like that. I bet a 21 or 22P 4 blade would do the trick for me.

I really need more setback before I buy anymore props.

Thats why I really never tried to spin any thing other than a 21p.You accerate anywhere through the powerband. And when you leave the local hot spot people have no clue how fast your going,They just know you left like a bat out hell! :eyecrazy:

Matt,

I'm thinking you need to just add that second motor to the back:poke:. Now that WOULD do the trick for you. Then, all of your acceleration and top end performance problems would be solved. A starflite with twin bigguns would be killer!
