Tow Truck Shopping Part Deux

Come on already . The suspense is killing me. Just go get that ecowhatever and be happy. Haha. I wish I could buy a big ole truck just to sit in the drive and barely use.i thought only retirees can have that. Chris are you retiring?

You can say a lot of things about the Dodge, but saying you'll be working on the Cummins a lot is not one of them. Pop the hood on all 3 American diesel pickups and tell me honestly which you'd prefer to wrench on. :bigthumb:

Answer to that is easy, I don't want to work on any of them. I hate wrenching on diesels. They're dirty, everything is 100lbs heavier and $100.00 more per part than gas.

I stumbled across this local to me and thought about looking at it, but I think he is a little high on the price. Pretty rare truck though. I always wondered why dodge never made one themselves.

that is a rare truck. I know a person that moved down here from up north with one. to me the second doors look like they came off of a Chevrolet. I know they are rare but I don't believe with 298,000 miles it is worth 15,000

He started off at $20K!!! That was such a joke he kept getting flagged off of craigslist. LOL

At 298,000 miles looks like a great deal to me, LOL....

dodge never made a four door version in that body style. they are conversion trucks that were made by someone other than dodge.

Interesting. A buddy has a later model with four doors, 24 valve, it says 'Mega' cab on it, I think. Short box maybe. I'm pretty sure it is a factory ride. What can I say, my newest Dodge is a early 30's model, says Dodge Brothers on it.

That would be correct. when dodge remodeled the trucks in 1994 they did not offer a "crew cab" version only a extended cab version. when they remodeled them again in 2002 they included a "quad cab" but no extended cab. in late 2005 they released the mega cab version. lastly in 2009 the came out with a true crew cab version of the 1500 and dropped the mega cabs for the 1500.

My $.02. I can't recall ever meeting anybody that bought a crew cab saying "Man, I wish I would have bought a truck with less room, I am going to sell this and get an extended cab". However, I know many people, myself included, that wish they would have gotten a crew cab to begin with.

Couldn't agree more. My last truck was an extended cab and god himself couldn't have stopped me from getting a crew this time around. It is night and day when it comes to room and comfort.

What he said. ^^^

Although I am usually running around in my regular cab, lol.

What about a Ford Excursion the V-10 has the juice a friend pulls a family style Rinker 28 footer to LC from Wheeling WVa, several times each summer, and you don't have to worry about the drop off in mileage because it gets 8 to 9 MPG all of the time!!!

That there is a great selling feature. LOL

I used to want a diesel Excursion to replace my diesel Suburban but it's really hard to find them and Ford had a few to many issues with their diesels in those years.

02 and down are 7.3's so the motor are pretty solid. Some 03's had the 7.3 and some had the 6.0 which was a lot more trouble prone. I don't think they came in a manual trans so you're gonna deal with a crap auto either way.
