Transom repair

I'm putting a transom in my boat and was wondering what I should use to glue the transom together, and how thick I should make it

I made mine 2" thick using coosa board. Thats roughly twice the thickness of the original transom. compulse170 linked some excellent resto threads; also click on my Enforcer resto thread at the bottom of my post.

hey.... those are some pretty good transom repair threads  thanks for puttin those links up pulse

good luck with the job, obviously theres lots of people here who can help answer questions etc.

I put layer of fiberglass and epoxy in between each layer of the transom (so I was told on scream and fly)

i work at a shop and our guy that does our fiberglass work told me to put 3 layers as so mat/roving/mat. wet the layers clamp it and let cure i did this between my layers of the transom and to attach it to the boat then i did the 3 layers with about 7 in strips to tie it in to the floor and the side. then one layer of mat to waterproof the whole thing. hope this helps. i just finished my transom.
