Twin 150 I6 Merc on Enchanter

New member
Last year I purchased a 21 Enchanter.. It just had a nice solid floor and transom replacement done... Now I'm thinking it would different to hang two 150 straight six Merc's on this hull .. I'm going old school ...no power trim/tilt to keep the weight down... I have done some checking around and no counter rotating lowers were made for these unless you go to SSM's and these are way High maintenance and cost ....So they will both be going RH rotation for now.
the weight aspect should not be a big deal... the 260 merc and the jack plate and so on was around 500 lbs and the 150's weight in at 260 each

Has any one tried this?? Just wondering what to expect...

Just my opinion but I would think if your looking for speed you'd be better off with the 260, but if your not gonna have trim your probably not worried about top speed, with the two 150's it won't be any faster, just better out of the hole and stick in the corners better, I don't know forsure but that's what happened with the two twin engines I have exp. with, niether one was a speed demon, one was a 14' aluminum w/2 9.9's and the other one was a 23' pontoon w/ 2 115 e-tec's so your boat being a speed boat might show differant results, just my .02cents

Never seen it done, but I can't imagine that set up being anywhere near as fast as a single 260. More gear cases means more drag. The purpose of twins is to push heavy boats which the Enchanter is not.

Twins

This is more of a just for laughs project... The 260 is going on a Hydrostrem Virage project boat.... and this left the Enchanter with no power ... The 150's are here and look like they will fit nicely... It would be kind of cool to modify a jack plate in such a way to hang them on it ... cone the lowers... and get some top end... may be later on... I'm thinking it should at least touch 50 though ....and pull a tube full of kids like a champ??

and burn fuel like it was free

but.....i'd still like to see it.

That is one angle I did not think of....

This may be a pricey way to move this around... But what the heck it will more than likely be hanging on the beach or on the hook more than running around anyway... And will have a substantial "Cool factor"
