UPDATE - Test and Tune

Checkmate Exciter

New member
Well guys, this wknd was interesting. We put 'er in Saturday morning and
pulled her back out after the motor wasn't pulling the way a 225 should. Compression test revealed a dead #4 starboard cylinder. Cylinder wall
was damaged before we acquired it, and it'll need a re-sleeving. My buddy who owns the marina has a rebuilt powerhead for that motor so we re going to do a swap-over within the next few weeks.

Also, while l we were checking it over, I cleaned off the hull ID plate and found that this is a 1977 Check Skimate, not an Exciter. I've posted some pics. The hull cleaned up really well tho.

Ahhh summer....:rof:

I think you are right Chris. My friends just bought a 78 Predictor and it looks almost identical to this. I'm pretty sure its not a ski mate, but like you, I'm no hull expert.

Ok, I didn't realize it was 18'. If it is, it should be an exciter. But I will wait for an expert to come in here and say for sure.

I know this thread is a little old but that is most defiantly not a skimate as I have a 1978.
