Wasted Income meets Jenny Craig!

Motor should be done friday. Got a un-passable deal on some forged Speed Pro pistons, rings, and some Scat 4340 I-beam 5.7" rods. All are new in the box from a buddy that is out of work. Advertised CR of the pistons w/64cc heads are 10.76-1. Getting excited about boating with a lil power:D

Haha...I'd Love too....I'll have to get some people together and come down....sounds like a great long weekend to me. I might have to try and drag Mr. Buss down too.

So when is it going to be together and on the water?? It's funny, I dropped in here to see what's going on with folks and ot ess how your toys are coming together and apparently I'm not the only one upgrading... I got a pair of heads in the mail today...

Weight on both complete heads is 44lbs.I will get the old cast iron heads for a weigh in to see how much I lost.
87lbs on the cast iron heads.
Weight savings of 43lbs so far.

I picked up the motor today. I need to swap the cam as it almost hits the rods (expected & too close for comfort) I also need to get the new gasket kit, and exhaust setup. Other than that, I think I am ready to roll with the swap in another month or so:banana:

I can deal with a couple girlfriends, don't know if I could do a couple wife's!! Maybe a new age style, just live together and shag...... a lot:lol: I could deal with that!

Back on track.
Aluminum water pump, Aluminum water pump pulley, Aluminum crank pulley, Aluminum alt/ power steering bracket, Stainless steel adjustment brackets for alt & ps pump
Weight) 17 lbs and the last of the nasty salt eaten metal gone!

I will get a weight on the stock iron & steel parts in the next couple days.:thumb:

So far here is where I am at on this

aluminum heads - 43lbs
aluminum brackets
pulleys, & w/p - 19lbs
Aluminum intake (est) - 24lbs
---------------------------------
total - 86lbs

now the sternjack did add 38lbs.

Headers should be here in a couple days so I will get a weight on them compared to the merc manifolds:D

Headers came today:banana:
Old cast iron manifolds, risers, and exhaust tubing was 156lbs
The new headers, adapters, cooling pipes, and exhaust pipes weigh in at 66lbs

The biggest looser goes to the exhaust for -90 lbs:eyecrazy:

aluminum heads........ - 43lbs
aluminum brackets
pulleys, & w/p.......... - 19lbs
Aluminum intake (est) - 24lbs
exhaust................... - 90lbs!
---------------------------------
total....................... - 176lbs

again the sternjack did add 38lbs. Other changes are +/-1lb so they were not factored into this. Only major weight changes and all this was done under $4500. Of course the "wow factor" when I pop the lid to show the motor is priceless:cheers:

I'm new to the Forum so just noticed this thread.

I've run a SternJack on my 22' Stingray/350MPI/Alpha for about 10 years with no problems. I'll be watching to see what you think of it on a CM.

I too repainted it black and had to deal with the swim platform issue (I used nylon "bushings" inside the cylinders as stops).

Yea I am not 100% sure about the swim platform problem. The bushings is a good ideal but I think the GF might be upset as that one of her jobs to watch the outdrive ;). I have to say she is getting better also at backing the trailer in and parking the truck:bigthumb:

Last weekend my 22 yr-old daughter had her first trailer duty and did great.:thumb: Mom or older sister have been around and had the duty before.

FYI - in my autocross days I looked at the the Fiero, but went with the MR2. Love the mid-engines.:o

Last minute addition is a polished thermostat housing
Old one is 12 lbs and the new one is 2 lbs!

The biggest looser goes to the exhaust for -90 lbs:eyecrazy:
