What a Bad Weekend

I purchased bluehealer's boat off this site several months ago. After spending about $9K on a new XR6, all new rigging, including hyd. steering, jack plate, gauges, you name it. Everything is new. Put about 5 hours on this boat then disaster struck. A 3 foot by 4 foot section of the bottom blew off. Delamination due to a rotten core. Luckily the boat did'nt act to violently and nobody got hurt or worse. Scared the crap out of everyone though. We did manage to get the boat in about 3 feet of water before it sank. Don't know if the boat can be fixed or not, either way im sure it's going to cost me a bunch of money. I'm thankful nobody got hurt, Just wet.
If your selling a boat and you know something is not right. Keep in mind the danger your putting the new owner in. It Sucks

WOW!!!! Glad everybody was ok.

I was thinking there was some transom problems with that boat, but had not heard about any bottom problems.

This one of the reasons that I go over boats I have here very thoroughly. And its also why sometimes it seems like I cut up more boats than I fix.

wow........... I looked @ that boat real good last year for chis & it showed NO hull Issues the transom was in great shape the bottom looked great... i've seen delaminated hydrostreams... we sold a tone of concords thu our shop they are a very well built boat.... that is surprising... I KNOW that the reason the boat was for sale was NOT because of issues... he wanted a bigger boat.... i'll stand behind chris on that one all the way!!!!!!!!!kURT

Sorry, I'm thinking of a different boat not the Concord. I was confusing the user name with another boat. :eyecrazy:

I'm gravely disappointed that this happened to you,cuz i take great pride in the stuff i own and take care of it accordingly.I never had any issues with the hull on this boat and assumed i was selling it as such.I spend alot of money on boating every year to make sure i get it done right as do alot of boaters.
What i don't appreciate is you dragging my name through the mud on this public forum without talking to me.You looked at the boat before you bought it,and i told you i never had a problem with it,EVER!I'm not a boat dealer and don't claim to be.What happened to you is unfotunate and could happen to anyone or any boat, so lets leave it at that.
Chris

are you sure it was caused by a bad core? could it have been anything else? I have seen some weird things happen to the bottom of hulls from extreme stress. -shane

" lets leave it at that" ??

Where's the pride now?. The boat didn't even last 5 hours and I'm suppose to just leave it at that. Take 3400$ and flush it down the toilet and see how it feels

insured or not......

Insured or not it would still suck.....I'm real sorry that you had to go through it, but glad everyone is okay. And for the record I didn't take it as though anyones name was being drug through the mud. My husband does enough repair work and the such for me to know that things can happen no matter what, but when you spend that kind of money it does make a person kinda sore when stuff like that happens. Maybe a good idea when purchasing a used boat from anyone but a dealer if you don't really know some of the things to look for would be to have someone with you to look over the boat that has some experience. Sorry...not trying to offend or sound like a smart a**. I would say it's really noones fault, but I have to say I would feel pretty irritated too. Good luck in the future and I hope the boat can be repaired.

our agent is the first person I called

he gave me a very straight answer. " would you expect a insurance company to fix your car just because it rusted out". I understood his point.

Mud slinging was not my intension. I'm a trusting person and got burned.
now it's time to get it fixed and hopefuly get back on the lake before summers over. Theres a new product I want to try. I just need to come up with a way to apply it. I'll keep you informed of the progress

There's some old advice.

Buyer Beware...If you expect warranty buy a new one. This is the risk of buying/owning an old boat.

I don't think trust had anything to do with what happened. Even experts can have a tough time detecting structural problems.

But the thing is even if it was a rotten core, something happened to the outer skin to make it separate from the hull. Unless you break the integrity of the outer skin, its not going to separate. So its in no way like it was "rusted out". If you have a problem with the outer skin of the hull it will separate from a GOOD core.

Lets see some pics of the damage. And, what is the new product that you were going to try for the repair?

Do you think Chris should have been called or e-mailed before you posted here?
I would think that if you really thought Chris did you wrong that you would talk to him in private first
Maybe I was just raised differently than most????
Are you really sure that you did not hit something?

I'm with Coop on this one. Even if the core was completely rotten it would take a significant impact to break the hull open. Is it not possible you hit an object floating just under the surface? I would at least have the insurance adjuster look at it and argue the point.
