I've been lurkin for a few days now, just trying to res a little into Check's before I bought one used. Then went Saturday to pick up my resto-project. She's a 84 Predictor w/ orig 115 Johnson. Boat has a fresh floor, all orig controls and gauges and wiring in good cond, but NO interior. I've got my work cut out for me, but I just couldn't pass up this beauty for $400. Will post some better pics once I clean it up, but for now see below....

Welcome!

Good buy, you could hardly get the trailer for that. Do a search on threads for "interiors" and I bet you'll find alot of links from others that have been where you are. It's always great to see older Check's find new homes. Did the previous owner describe what he did to the floor? ie. did he replace stringers or work on on the transom? You should check his work before getting into the interior too far into the $ and sweat. I have no experience with that type of work but many others here have described their projects in great detail.

Seller didn't really have an idea of what had been done to the boat. Floor looks like it's been redone. Transom is solid, so now worries there. The rear seat support however, is probably going to be replaced.

Good deal !!! Good luck w/your new project !!
:welcome:

Thanks, I just can't wait to get it out on the lake. :eyecrazy:

in the same boat with you

I'm right there with you bro. Just picked up a 78 convincer off ebay for 745.00. I'm excited to get it back to new. Keep in touch and lets help each other along. Congrats on your great find.:bigthumb:

Finally got to working on the boat...Got the Johnson 115 purring pretty good, and now have it removed to replace the floor/float boxes. Trying to see if I can get this thing done, and on the water before summer is over...

Welcome!! and its nice to know there is another checkmate owner pretty close by! I'm in Clear Lake. Hope to see you on the water soon!@

Howdy, Tex! Sounds like you got yourself a great deal. Keep us informed on how it's working out.
