Pulled the powerhead!!

For what its worth, I pull my plugs now after every couple of outings. They should be similar in appearance (see google for pics of a good running 2-stroke plug). You can see this piston melting long before it ever gets this critical. You'll see metal shavings on the plug that tells you the cylinder is running too lean. Sadly I've learned this after 3 powerheads in 3 years. :brickwall: Here's to a season of turnkey boating....:bounce:

sent out the remainder of the cash to wayne. I had to purchase a new motor harness also the old one was shot! It should ship out to me next week!!!!:D:D:D

Thats awesome . Hope it works out great . Im still not sure when I will be sending mine down to him yet

Yay!!!! Wayne is sending the block to me tomorrow and the new wire harness. I owe my wife big for letting me get this done!

Now you should be good to go this season . Hope to see you get it out on the Saginaw river with us this august ....

For sure it will be. I am also glassing the passenger seat the was missing too I have a few layers done I think on more should do it. Now I just need to get around to the back bench. Also will what do you add to your fuel? Do you use stabil and what kind of oil?

I use just regular Mercury two stroke oil and I add star tron to my fuel every fill up . I do add a little more oil though just to be on the safe side .... I also use premium fuel too

I got it today! I will hopefully have it back on over the next week. I am waiting for the weather to break I still need to clean up a mess from a tree that fell during the last ice storm and hit my garage so my door is blocked right now. I will put all the parts back on the motor in the basement so I will need to do is take it to the garage for bolts back to the mid.

Nice

Powerhead is now one with the rest of the motor. I set the timing its dead on now. I have a bad rectifier so I need to order one of those and I need to pick a new plug to replace the one with part of piston on it. Replace the gas in the tank and start the break in process.

When you think you will have her on the water ???

Yea the other plugs were all new only about an hour on them and 1 had bits of piston burned onto it. I will hopefully have it in the water in the next 2 weeks. I started it in the the driveway today to make sure everything is good. The top carb drips gas on idle only so I need to dig into that if its a major problem.

All my old mercs leak gas from the carbs while idling . Even after the carbs have been rebuilt they still leaked ???

The carbs were not rebuilt but i talked to wayne he told me what do do now they dont leak anymore. It runs great so far I just need to do some lake runs.
