Big Block or Small Block ?

New member
First time posting a thread so bear with me. I finished my outboard Enchnter project and am ready to move up. I just picked up 25 Convincor 1983. Saved it from a dump run! My question is are there any advantages to repower with a small block stroker or should I stick with big block power ? Already ripped out TRS and am starting with a blank page. Looking to get going and for some ideas. Any will be welcome except for I shoud have let it go to the dump! Thanks in advance.

I see you are from CT, welcome!

I would go with Big Block power. Forum members will never agree 100% on a topic, but this one will be a land slide towards the Big Block.

What part of CT are you from?

Welcome...and don't mention a 4 cylinder turbo...:rof:

How about a nice in line 6 as in a Cummins turbo diesel? 500hp/1000tq reliably with just a headgasket, injector, and turbo swap. Go with a 12 valve and there's really no electronics involved. :D

That'd be my first choice, second would be a big block Chevy.

That would be awesome. Drop the hammer and a huge burp of black smoke as you jump on plane. You've got a mission. Whens the project starting?

I think a dressed Cummins is about 900lbs.

The project starts as soon as I find that money tree I've been looking for. Well maybe a little after, it'll take a few days to find a house and a giant garage.

I agree big block. But I do know some small blocks that will push that beast just as easy. Kunkles had a procharged 383 that pushed their 300 into the 80mph range ;)

I doubt that he would want to spend the money on an outdrive that can hold that torque. A bravo would be toast the first time the turbo boosts up. Horsepower doesn't kill the drives, torque does. If it wasn't for that fact, I would have one in mine....I know where there is one at about 600 hp cummins sitting on a pallet.

Go with the big block......you wont be dissapointed.

I saw an Enchanter last summer in H. Cove but I don't remember the color. Chatted with the owner for a second, but I don't remember which Checkmate I owned at that point (both are white and orange). I was tied up with a white, red and blue Baja.

Was that you?

Sorry for getting :offtopic:!!!!!
