Going good & put some time in yesterday. Recent work included pulling gas tank, remaining stringers/bulkheads, floor, gunnels, all carpet, knees & motor/jackplate. Was also able to remove transom inner skin. Wow was the wood in the transom shot. Was worst by the hold-down eyelets & motor mount bolts. Really glad doing this resto just for a safety reason.

Getting ready to purchase my supplies but have few ?'s.

About how much epoxy resin will I need?

Same with how much 17 oz bi ax

Decided use all would as cost of Coosa is out my price range after shipping cost. Kinda bummed as really want build this boat as light as possible as want be able to do mid 70's with four people in boat with my 225 Opti. I will post some pics in few minutes.

I like it as well!!! He's done a ton of work to the boat, looks great!! Hopefully he'll have it finished this summer.

I ordered the 6.6 gal kit. Used it all already! Ordered another 1.5 gal kit which should be enough to finish my glass work. I have been very generous using cabosil and double/triple layering glass in areas.

Ok thank you. How much fiberglass did you order?

Eric

Madtown , just curious ........did you order 635 ( Epoxy resin )and fabric ( 17 oz Bi- AX ) from www.uscomposites.com

I was planning on to as that seems what is recommended correct as working well? Do I want the Bi-AX without the mat?

Few more pics took today. Had chance to pull out the direct injectors in my Opti to get cleaned by Don at European Marine. Mine has close to 400 hours on it so its due. Had to replace one last year due to it sticking open.

looks like a real pain in the a$$ taking the transom out without the boat split! Ick!

17oz biax is all you really need, some folks like the mat and think it's stronger-which it may be just a little, but the bi ax is tough enough properly laid up and MUCH MUCH easier to wet out and work with.

Eric , when using Epoxy you need a matless cloth like 17 oz Bi -Ax . You dont want to use any chop or continious strand mats in any Epoxy systems considering the 17 oz will fill all the needs in any phase of your project , Eric , i personally would not use any fabric like # 1708 because those mats have a binder (csm) designed for Polyester or Vinylester resins which may prevent thorough wet out , and not recommended to be used with Epoxy resins , and just a quick mention when handling the 17oz Bi Ax you should be somewhat careful because it can and will distort very easy during wet out.

Eric , i know you mentioned that you wanted to use Coosa in a few post's back put have you given any thought to using other materials like Thermo Lite http://www.spaceagesynthetics.com or Penskie board ? Funny thing i just got a flyer for Menards yesterday in the Sunday paper and they were advertising there ABX Marine grade ply 1/2-4x8 at $44.99 and there 3/4 -4x8 ................$ 59.99 which actually is a very good price .

Wow that is a good price for Marine Ply. I was planning on going there today anyway. Thank you for the heads up & advice as its much appreciated:thumb:.

Plan on getting transom out by tonight or tomorrow after work. That will put me at around 20 hours so far into resto. Not sure if thats good or not:rof:
