95 Pulsare 2100BR resto

Wow that is a good price for Marine Ply. I was planning on going there today anyway. Thank you for the heads up & advice as its much appreciated:thumb:.

Plan on getting transom out by tonight or tomorrow after work. That will put me at around 20 hours so far into resto. Not sure if thats good or not:rof:

Eric
Just curious , and did you check out the Ply at Minards today because that really is a good price ?

I was planning on to as that seems what is recommended correct as working well? Do I want the Bi-AX without the mat?

Few more pics took today. Had chance to pull out the direct injectors in my Opti to get cleaned by Don at European Marine. Mine has close to 400 hours on it so its due. Had to replace one last year due to it sticking open.

hey guys not to hijack ive got a jack plate like the one above, the bushings are smoked is there anyone that rebuilds them or is it a throw away?pump works but like i said bushings are toasted

Small update as been busy working on my house & not a lot of time on boat. Well today I worked on getting all the transom out. What a pain when the wood is rotten & cant get it come out in one piece. So piece by piece I chiseled it out.

Eric

Notice in upper corner were transom wood meets hull there is large void.

Section that is on left & near bottom is were the glass did not bond to the hull. I was able to pull the glass right off. Still need sand the center area.

looks about normal, they will fall out sometimes and other times it is little by little, get some leather gloves for that one

Let the wood dry and it will come out easier. My Enforcer transom was the same way came out in pieces until I let the wood dry.

Ok today got the transom completely out. I have some questions though.

First off how much lower can I grind below drain hole or is that good enough?

Second is that have to holes in transom from screws passing through for the plate that was against hull. As can see there are some cracking in hull. Should I drill a shallow hole at end of cracks & fill with epoxy?

Third is on both upper ends of transom there is big gaps were the glass & wood was not touching hull. Should I fill these voids with something before laying in transom?

Looks like a nice work area Eric:bigthumb:

Once I'm done with the boat, I will start on my home addition which includes doubling the size of my garage... oh well, one year too late to work on the resto in it:o

Don't necessarily need warmer temps, just longer cure times. A little heat lamp works wonders too.

Not sure how hard it would be to pop the top on your Pulsare, but it would make the job much much easier.

It really was not that bad getting old transom out with the deck on. Drilling out all the rivets did not look like something I wanted to deal with anyway. Plus I think the less you disturb the "boat structure" the better. I have it on a bunk trailer but never know.

Well after a big delay due to getting my ordered wood from Menards I am going to start putting the boat back together.

I had make a cardboard template for the transom then cut the wood. The first piece took forever to fit correct. The first ply of 1/2 is cut low at the top to make room for were the deck fits onto the hull. The deck sticks out & if tried to run the wood to the top it would not fit flush. The second 3/4 ply will go all the way to the splash well. The void will be filled with Cabisol when I bond to hull. So the transom will be 1 1/4 thick all way across then a center section between the knees will be another 3/4 ply kinda like how the factory had it. Hope to have it in by late tomorrow.

Transom cut & ready for sanding & glass/resin afterwards.

Just a small update on boat progress which unfortunatly was halted since last week when my Dad passed away due to cancer:(. His passing was earlier than we expected but he fought a good fight for having it since 2004. He was only 69, way to soon.

Did some more work tonight though. Had the two pieces of wood bonded together so fitted it to boat. Drilled all the holes in wood & layed down first layer of 17oz onto hull side. Should be making more headway this weekend as will have a friend helping me.
