Thanks for input guys. Should I line the drain hole with thickened epoxy to seal the wood or should I still install a brass drain tube?

Eric

The npt style plugs are the best. You get used to needing the wrench.

Go stainless if you can find it. Or go with the sweet led plug! I'm getting one of those.

When I did mine i lined the hole with 5200 and put some on the flange then screwed it in. worked great.

Agreed on the 5200 - I put it on the drain tube as I slid it in so I didn't push it out the other side while sliding in the drain tube. Once the drain tube was in, I spun it around and few time and wiggled it back and forth to make sure I had good coverage. I also applied a bead behind the flange on both sides before cranking down on the flange tool, to the point where it oozed out as I clamped down on it. I'd rather clean access off than not be totally sure it is sealed.

Forgot ask this question last night. Gas tank is going in this weekend with no foam. What should I install under it so it does not rub on hull/fiberglass? Was thinking rubber seal that goes under garage door with 2 inches cut in middle to allow water to drain if needed. Tank will be bolted to stringers. Thanks for help again.

Rubber strips or cut some 1"x 1/2" thick strips from plywood glue them down and cover with mat and resin.

Should have glassed stringers in by Sunday with fuel tank hopefully. Did have to make a replacement stringer for the starboard side under the bow section though. Cut out old wood & installed new 3/4. This is pic of it bonded in but not tabbed yet.

Well my goal of having tank in last weekend didnt pan out but made lots of progress last night. Will have lots of pics after today. Decided the old steering was not going to cut it so look what the UPS man dropped off yesterday.

Last night got some more parts bonded in. Bonded second portion of knee support, inside stringers & rear bulk head. Moving right along this weekend.

My drain hole set-up. Bronze tub will go in from inside & butt up against drain plug. Seal it all with 5200

Second part of knee supports before bonding in. Above them is inner stringers. White on edges is just dust from cutting off excess glass

Before bonding in second part of knee supports & inner stringers. Center section of transom has since been filleted & tabbed in.
