Thanks Mike Combs

I just wanted to comment on the excellent customer service I have recieved from Mike at Checkmate. I am restoring a 1987 Enticer that I have documented (and need to uptdate) in my thread in the restoration forum. Mike has previously sold me the exact replacement rub rail insert at a very reasonable price. Today I recieved some windshield channel gasket that is a perfect match as well as two styles of rubber deck trim that are now available with a note to simply return the style I did not use. If anyone is looking for parts for their current boat or are shopping for a new one, I would highly recommend giving them a call. Thanks, Scott.

sure glad you got some good customer help. mine has been horrible. spider cracks in a 2011 hull, windshead that has already gone bad. worst made checkmate I've ever experienced and its my 4th checkmate. Don't worry about a checkmate warranty because nothing is ever back-up.

Mike's one of the good guys. :thumb:

He's helped me out a time or two as well and always been great to deal with. :)

What went "bad" with the windshield? Where are you getting spider cracks?

Perhaps you should start another Thread.

Sorry to hear about this.

I absolutly reiterate what Lawson'sLanding is say'in....
I have on many occasion talked with Mike and he {and everybody else at Checkmate Ohio} have given me GREAT customer attention, very personalized and caring AND knowlegable.:thumb:

After I picked up my Starfire I called and gave the HIN and was asked to call back in 15 minutes. I called back and was given the original sale price, options and dealer who sold it. Thats my only experience with them and was very happy that he stoped what he was doing to give me info on my boat. Most places are only willing to help if your making a purchase, he went beyond what he needed to do to help me.

Both Kip and Mike have always been helpful!! They always took the time to answer questions through my years of Checkmate ownership...from my first Spectra 170, the rebuilding of my infamous 1994 Black/silverflake Pulsare 2100 to the recent ressurection of my 1984 2800SX Outboard. Mike even took the time to hunt through the archives and fax me the original build sheet and order form for the 2800 (which was 28 years old!)! Even though the company is now owned by Doug Smith and a few "Baja" like products are being produced, knowing the old guard is still present will keep me a Checkmate fanatic til the end!!

I myself have talked to Mike. He spent time out of his busy day to talk to me about my 89. I've ordered new seat skins and other stuff from him. Everything sent to me was right. My hats off to him.

Ordered new deck lid vinyl from Mike a while back, he was very willing
to help. As soon as I gave him my hull number he imediately with in
seconds new everything there was to know about my boat like he
was standing next to it. Should have finished product in about 3 weeks.
Anyway Im pleased.

Years ago i worked at a place.we did alot of warranty work for checkmate. They were very good about taking care of the customers!some spider cracks, air voids in gelcoat ect.most of the repairs in my opinion where from owners thrashing the piss out of the boats and improper trailer set ups
