    Checkmate Senator too slow....

I have the hydrofoil, just wondering if I'm sacrificing top speed for quicker planning.

    Checkmate Senator too slow....

I was trimming it up until there was 50 feet long rooster tail behind the boat. Second try the boat started porpoising. Next time I'll experiment on another lake with smoother water. How does hydrofoil affect the top speed?

    Checkmate Senator too slow....

Update. Yesterday was first time this year with my checkmate on water, it ran 50mph with some trim up, pushing about 3600 rpm's. The water was a bit rough and I had maybe 300lb of stuff in the bow of boat. I think it was quite an achievement compared to 37 mph.

Few pics of my Senator before and after restoration.

...my first boat, and no experience parking it near the shore. Unless if I had a dingy behind the boat and anchored it like dudes with yachts do it.

No I didn't go to the lake since my first post, have no time, and it's too cold already.

It's always on the trailer, it was only 2 times in ocean, and bottom looks perfect so far...

    Checkmate Senator too slow....

Thanks. But I think it would still depend on what engine you have.. How fast does your 7.2L Senator run? I think it would be a noticeable difference compared to 5.8L.

I wouldn't spend $1000 on new seats. Old ones became a crap. And those seats were only ones I had lying around. Maybe I'll replace them sometime.

October 2009's Boat of the Month Nominations

It's a low tide. We left it in the water at night and at the morning it was laying aground. Water went away for 60 or more feet that day after I took the picture, waited for high tide until evening. :brickwall:

    Checkmate Senator too slow....

Well, compression was ok two years ago... will check again later. Don't know if it's the original engine, the previous owner was a mechanic and I don't know what he did with this boat.

    Checkmate Senator too slow....

I don't know if I'm gonna go to lake this year anymore, so I'll work on this boat during the winter. Are there any cheap power mods I can do for this boat? And what about mods for fuel economy?
