    swap from carbs to injection.

    I would never want to convert from Carb to EFI, just seems like the wrong direction to me. Unless you're boating/fishing all day every day, I'm thinking it would be cheaper and less trouble to burn a little more gas. Ain't nothing better then keeping it simple, better known as useing the KISS...

    1986 A902436 was the first S.N. in 1986. B110064 was the first S.N. for 1987. Also 1986 was the last year the 6 cylinder 90hp was made after 21 years.

    50 HP Johnson??

    If it's out of the water or in Neutral it doesn't take much throttle to reach 5k or 6k. Lower the throttle setting and maybe readjust the carb. Also if at all possible reset carb/s with motor in the water.
