16ft Sprint boat racing project.

Yeah, I had to pull the trigger on this one. Even though I had to take money from another project. Its not like there are very many of these around so I had to make the deal.

First it was cheap, second it was close by, 29 miles, so yeah, I had to get it.

SCT found it on craigslist, and I found it on his list. The guy I got it from got it from a woman that was days away from cutting it up. So yeah, saved from the dump in the nick of time.

Here are the pics from the cl ad.

So it's been factory modified to fit the mercury sport jet rather than the 2.3 I/O. I wonder if it would fit the 240 horse version? Might be the easiest and quickest way back on the water.

The Mercury website only lists the 200 as being available. And yes since it is in such good shape, since it will be a couple of years before I had time to make a mold of it or anything. I'm going to get the guys to start cleaning it up and giving it a nice polish. I does have a spot that looks to buff up nicely. Other than mold from sitting, and terrible uv damage, this boat is in great shape.
So now I'm looking for at minimum a 175 sportjet or better. There is one floating around town here that came out of another prototype I'm hoping to acquire.
I'm going to call Gary Horsley this week and have him come over to look the thing over since I'm sure he had a big part of building the thing.
I'll have some more pictures and video later today.

Time for some picture overload.

The bottom needs gone over.

Even though it was based on a Predictor hull, the bottom is very different.

I like this boat. Does it flatten out underneath at the tunnel for the SportJet? I would love to find one of these and coax some serious ponies from the 2.3. Easy to turbocharge (remember the Turbo Coupe Thunderbirds), easy on fuel, parts are inexpensive and plentiful, motor is pretty indestructable when run within reason.

I think it does have a flat area.

The Jethole.

Can any one tell me what's missing off the back of the boat? Besides the drive and the hatch of course.

The Enginehole.

;)

I'm not sure if a hatch was ever bolted to it.
