1975 Vmate restoration

Set the trim pump in to see how much room I had and to make sure the lines were long enough . Everything checked out great ...

Getting all my stuff together . Getting the seacast out to the garage and getting everything ready so hopefully today it FINALLY gets poured ....
 
While I was waiting for my dad I sat in the boat and thought up a idea for the rear seat bench . Than I built it . Turned out pretty good . Now the inside of the boat is all made up just needs to be covered in the spring .

And the Seacast was put in today :banana: FINALLY !!!

Here is a Short Video My dad mixing it and my cousin putting in the ground up fiberglass . Had to stop and hold the bucket . It was getting thick and bucket started to turn on my dad .....

 
Here are some more pictures . My cousin started to shovel it in but I got up in the boat and I poured it in and my dad started leveling and smoothing it all out with a 1in piece of wood ... This stuff mixed and poured so much better than the last stuff I did in 2004 . So much more easier to use . 35 mins start to finish and I have a new transom in my boat ... :D

It gets hot . But it didnt buldge out . Once it was in we slid the top back down so everthing stayed in place ....I just had went out a looked at it for the first time today and I knocked on the transom and it is SOLID !!! Its definetly fantastic stuff :surf:
 
bit curious why you didn;t use plywood and fiberglass for the transom vs. seacast?

I know seacast is 3x's stronger, but wouldn't it have been quicker to build the transom out of of the ply and build up layers of fiberglass with it would have been stronger and better than original?

Not really , all you have to do is open the bucket mix the hardener and pour it in and its done .....And there is still fiberglass . The secast is in between it .....
 
Rub Rail

I was going to re-use my old rub rail but cant find the old style instert so it looks like ill be buying a new kit but cant believe how many different styles there are and so far only found one that has the same width as the original lol .
 
secast

Here is a piece of the secast I set on a piece of wax paper and let it cure out . This is some strong stuff . I smacked it with a hammer a few times and it didnt break. I am just amazed at how strong this stuff is .

Well I went out to the garage and straightend up the boat some and strapped it to the trailer . Shes going out to the other house tomorrow and parked in the garage there for the winter . Would be nice to have one more month of nice weather Could get it ready for paint in the spring . I was hopping I would have had that done already but we have had a week of 45-50 degs temps and rain and its almost November . But 62 and sunny tomorrow so Ill be able to transport the boat . I hope this winter goes by fast . I really dont like snow all that much :(
