1995 CHECKMATE 23ft DECKMATE BOAT * NEW IN 2000 *

Its a real Checkmate, lol, and I just bid on the ugly bastard.

Were they "one off" designs from Checkmate? Doesn't looks as though they were even derived from another bottem design...

THANKS COOP I WAS HOPING YOU WOULD CHIME IN. THE FRONT SEATS THREW ME OFF BUT THE PATTERN LOOKED LAGIT. AND THE OLD TRI HULL LOOK I NEVER SEEN ON A MATE

The first time I visited the factory was when the Deckmate was in production. The guys I talked to on the floor were kinda shaking their heads........:rof:

The story I got was one of the hulls was being made for Bill C and it was his idea to build a deck boat. At the time (1994? 1995?) I thought it wasn't a good idea, but now 13 years later and older I wished CMate still built a deck boat. Kip floated an idea and drawings here on the site about a year and a half ago about a NEW DeckMate.

This one on ebay has an interesting story doesn't it? Sounds like a dealer bought an older hull (1995) with a year 2000 engine and a 2000 trailer? Coop, can you ask Kip and Mike what the story is on this rare hull?

I already know this one.......

They got built, then ended up sitting around for about 5 years before someone bought them, so then they got a motor and shipped out. There are only a few of these things out there. Almost about a rare a Checkmate as you can get.

Four or five of these if I remember right. I think this is the one that Bill sent up north to have the interior done. That was a long time ago. I think the patterns are still in barn. Deck & hull molds are long gone.

Thanks Haftoo, I was wondering why the driver and co-pilot seat aren't 'correct' Checkmate style. Do you know who Bill sent the boat to? Know any more story? I see it's up to $8,000 already. Be fun watching this one, I wonder how high the reserve is.

I can't remember any thing else on these boats. Like Coop said we didn't build very many of this model. I think I did copy the one interior though. Alan

With deck boats being all the rage today, I find it funny that mate was ahead of the game in forward thinking and they did not sell. Just to soon in the boat life. I still think they should come out with one.

Coop did you get this boat???? I swear I did not remember anything about that boat. I must have been stuck down at plant 2 when the four or five boats were made. Thanks for he verification Coop and Haftoo. MY BAD...:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

I saw my first Deckmate when I toured the factory back then, and I saw it at what I thought was the 'second' building. The building that housed the larger boats, bigger I/O's. I was given the tour by someone that was in parts (not Mike) because Kip was away getting married :p

[/QUOTE When this picture was taken it didn't even have a motor in it. They were in a hurry to get the photo book out, so they put it together and took it out and floated it and took the pictures.
JW that could have been Marc, Kenny or even Dave.
