Thanks for the correction. I was a teenager at that time, so I realize my "facts" could have been a little fuzzy. I am certain about the Cobra details though, must have been a transition point along the way to being "Baja".
I'd be curious to hear, in a nutshell, what happened to Baja between then and now. I have a lot of old friends in many areas of the boat industry, from building to selling. It's a rough-and-tumble business, where fortunes can be made and lost quickly. Many people that get into the business are boat lovers, but not good businessmen. Add to that the seasonal nature, and the effect oil prices and interest rates have on your operations AND your market, and you really have to hand it to anybody that that manages to get on top of it and stay there.
