2000 BRX

Hi, I am looking to buy a 2000BRX and have a couple of questions for any owners.

Is there much storage onboard, I assume its under the bow seats, behind the bow seat backs and under the bench seat at the back ? Anywhere else ?

Anywhere that could fit a couple of wake boards, kneeboards and lure boxes ?

What is there preferred way of fitting an after market Bimini on the liner boats ?

Anyone have any pics or videos of their 2000 ?

Thanks

Duane.

In addition to the storage you mentioned, there is also a ski locker which easily fits skis but may be challenging to fit a wakeboard. The front bow cushion in the middle easily fits bumpers. The backs of the bench seats also come off easily and you might be able to squeeze a wakeboard behind them. The battery is on one side and the oil reservoir is on the other. I copied a few photo below of my first CM. 2011 2000BRX

Thanks for the information and the pictures Chuck, that boat looks stunning with the red black and silver/grey interior.

Agree with ChuckB about the storage and the pics he posted should pretty much show all the places where you'll find it. There's storage under the three bowrider seat cushions, behind the seat backs on both sides of the bowrider (this accesses the area under the dashboards on both sides), underneath the bench seat at the back, the whole area behind the back seats, the small locker in the nose of the bowrider, and the ski locker in the floor. However, the only place (realistically) that could fit wake boards and knee boards is behind the back seat if you have the battery and oil tank mounted in appropriate spots. All three seat back cushions come off so the opening is pretty wide. Under the back seat is fairly shallow (maybe 6" or so) and it's curved so I don't see boards fitting under there too easily if at all. One of the thoughts I had was to buy a 2 or 3 slot wake board rack (the ones that go on the wake board towers) and bolt it to the ski pole in such a way that the forks stick upwards more so than forwards so it isn't encroaching on the back seat. If I try that I'll post the results and some pics.

I also have a bimini on mine and it's mounted to the windshield frame. It folds up into a boot and lays down on top of the back seat cushions when I'm trailering or for high speed runs, plus it has the quick release pins so it can be taken completely off in 10 seconds. I've run up to 65 MPH with the bimini top up so it's not like you're limited to 40 MPH if you want some shade. I had it custom made for the boat.

Thanks ForbesZ, and another great looking boat.

I was thinking of doing something similar to keep a couple of fishing rods aboard and out of the way with a rod holder in the splash well or attached to the front side of the ski pole - nothing worse than seeing a big bait attack with no rods on board.

For the boards I was wonder if there would be space to 5200 some acrylic eyelets to the liner to store a board on its side edge flat against the vertical liner between the front and rear seats. This would keep the boards mostly out of the way. It will be a week or two before I can travel to view the 2000 I am considering, any thoughts on whether this storage idea would work out ?

THanks Duane.

PS Loving the pictures, I have to fly to another country to view the 2000 so in the meantime, really enjoying an pics you guys can post.

I think a wake board would fit vertically along the liner between the back and front seats, as long as you don't mind blocking the floor lights. If you're going to bond eyelets to the liner to hold wake boards you might want to try it with 4200 instead of 5200 just in case you ever want to take it off again. The 4200 should be plenty strong to hold a wake board and it will come off if you ever want to take it off (whereas 5200 is difficult to remove without damaging the gel). The deck area on either side of the splash well is also pretty big so I imagine you could put a bracket to hold a couple wake boards there as well (they could bolt through or maybe even just bonded with 4200). If you go that route you would probably want the bracket on the starboard side since the port side has the swim platform/ladder.

For the fishing rods, the water ski locker in the floor could be fitted with a rod holder pretty easily if you don't need to store water skis in there. You could put them in the storage areas behind the bowrider seat backs too, but you couldn't get to them as quickly for a bait attack.

The 2000 BRX model has really grown on me. At first, I thought it looked like a Bayliner but it really has a TON of room, descent performance, and nice lines. It's a good compromise between a wake board boat and full out lake racer.

Good luck-

Agree, same here.I would seriously consider it to.

Hi,

Its really difficult to judge the appearance from photographs, even my current bowrider looks like To have totally different lines in different pictures.

I think the original photos released by checkmate are not very flattering of the 2000brx, but if its growing on you, have a look at the two videos posted by this guy on YT https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=EkEi6mpbQu0

The second river run video is better but i cant access it from a mobile, it should be easy to find from the first.

I had my reservations about the looks at first too, especially since my dad still has the 19-ft Bayliner Capri from when I was a kid and I didn't want to have a boat that looked like THAT. I was originally eyeing the 2400 BRX but that was still 5 years out for me due to its cost. Then I found this 2000 BRX that I was able to purchase outright with the cash I had on hand so I bit the bullet. Once I got the 2000 BRX next to my dad's Bayliner I could see that they don't really look the same at all. Sure they're both bowriders around 20-ft long but there's no chance anyone would mistake one for the other. My 70-year old mother who knows nothing about boats can tell the difference even with her glasses off. The BRX is far more sleek, has the windshield further back, is much wider, has more freeboard, and the bowrider area is longer, deeper and more pointy. Plus the way it sits in the water is way different too with the transom down and nose up, thanks to the 500 lb outboard motor hanging 16" off the back. Needless to say the 2000 BRX is significantly faster than the Bayliner too.

That's not to say I wouldn't upgrade to the 2400 BRX someday, but until then I'm pretty happy with the 2000 BRX.

Agree that the 2400brx is stunning and the long term goal, but in the meantime the 2000 looks like a great boat.

How much difference was there in the speed of your boat before and after adding the extra set back ?

Also did you experiment with props and see much difference there ?

Thanks

Duane.

I don't really know what difference in speed the setback makes because I've never run the 250 ProXS with any other setback than 16". As for props, I need to spend more time on that too. I borrowed a 27" Trophy and ran it for a bit but was hesitant to explore top end simply because I think it had been worked on and I didn't want to throw a blade. I also tried a borrowed 27" Laser II but the 25" Trophy was smoother and just as fast. I now have a 28" Trophy for this coming summer so I'll see how that goes and post results. I am also planning to meet up with another fellow from this forum who is about 30 minutes away from me so I can try the 27" Solas Scorpion he runs on his 2100 BR with Yamaha 250 V-Max (and he'll try my 28" Trophy on his rig).

Not sure where you're located, but where I am the boating season is only 4 months long (5 if you want to push it). Right now the lakes have 7" of ice on them so all I can do at the moment is talk about what I'm planning to do. Haha.

Im based in Dubai - 12 month season if you can stand the heat, 9 months if you can't.

There is a CM Dealer in Kuwait that has a few 2000BRX in stock, The boats are imported without engines as you might have guessed from my post in the outboard forum.

Im alternating between the 200Pro XS or 200 Inline Four Yamaha, two very different engines, my heart is saying pro xs, but my head is thinking Yamaha - I can get the Merc slighty cheaper than the Yamaha if I buy it in Kuwait and ship to Dubai with the boat - I am just not convinced that Dubai dealerships would honour the warranty if there were any issues.

Have also found a few more picture rich links on the 2000 BRX for anyone else that is researching these boats -

I recall a picture of a semi trailer loaded with Checkmates headed over seas. I bet it is one of them. I think Coop posted the picture.

Don't know about any Semis loaded with Checkmates headed this way, but there must have been 100's loaded with Searays, Larson's, Glastron's, Bayliners and Yamahas etc etc.

You can't give away a 18-20ft boat at the moment. Saw a recent Larson Senza 226 with the 7 liter engine listed at 31K sold for 23K on the weekend - huge amount of boat and engine for the money.

This is out local listing site, so many boats in the 10-20K (35-70K DHS) range, would need to take 30% or more off to sell any of them.

I am in the airport two or three times a week for work, but tomorrow morning I am going to the airport to fly to Kuwait to have a look at a CheckMate !

I am sure even the coffee will taste better on this trip.

Looking forward to it

Duane.
