2006 Checkmate Poker Run/Regatta

Its only apx 15 miles from the mouth of the bay.Kellys Island is apx half way at 7 or 8 miles heading NW. Your never out of sight of land.I made the trip over last year last year with my starflite in 3 to 4 ft rollers. It took around 1 1/2 hours due to the water condition

Just wanted to send a reminder out that we are still sending out registration packets for the Poker Run to interested participants. If you are interested in attending, please e-mail us at TracyMlls@cs.com and we will make sure to send you a packet. For some of you who have already received your packet you may have noticed that we put the incorrect date on the information sheet. The correct date of the poker run is Saturday, July 15. There is a price break on the entry fee if you send in your registration and entry fee by May 15th; so hurry and get your registration and entry fee in so that you can take advantage of the price break!

Does anyone know the time that the run begins? Trying to decide whether to leave Friday night or early Saturday. Thanks

Last year the poker run got off at around 10:00 AM. The rain delayed us a little bit. Then, at the lunch stop, we waited for the skies to clear, and it was done around 4:00PM.

Friday we toured the factory. This was a good opportunity to meet others that were participating in the run. This year we plan on leaving Thursday afternoon, so that we can spend a little more time at the factory.

The doors are always open here for customers.....so yea stop in Friday before the Run........we'll be here ! Kip

Is there any good/reasonable hotels in area-looks like alot of dumps, from info on checking the sites, plan on slip 1-2 nights, but staying around & check out cedar point.Or How far from lyman to cedar point marine ? Any info is appreciated-Thanks

The hotels are not dumps. They are geared for tourist passing thru. A fair room for a price.Cedar point marina & Lymans Face each other on the bay only a mile or two Apart.

With a 28zt you could get over to Put-In-Bay in 20-30 minutes at a easy pace. Its more of an adult theme park.

I took the starflite over to P-I-B the day after last year and spent the nite at B & B and came back on monday.

Kellys Island is closer to the Lymans and Sandusky Bay. Its more laid back slower pace. There is a marina and restraint.

It's a very short distance across the mouth of the bay to Cedar Point's marina. It probably only would take 6-7 minutes on the water from Lyman. Some of the more affordable lodging is a drive from either Lyman or CP. Route 250 off of route 2 areas have several that are generally reasonably priced. Great Wolf Lodge is VERY pricey for the amenities provided, but it's also a "niche" type of resort. I didn't get my moneys worth when I stayed for the wifey's seminar; that's for sure! If you're willing to travel a bit Port Clinton has some pretty good lodging also (it's set up for ferry riders to Put-in-bay). Good Luck!

Hey BUKK, Cedar point has 1/2 day passes you can purchase at around $25. Enter the park after 6 ish walk about enjoy a few rides until 11 ish. That would leave another the day to explore OHIO's northern coast.Heres what would be my plans! Thurs morn launch at Sandusky city lauch its huge with parking for trucks pulling 30 ft trailors.Find my way over to P-I-B by noonish or by at least 2 pm.Make sure to hit the the Roundhouse bar for the afternoon party. After that your on your own. Friday morning decide if you want to do a 2nd nite at the bay knowing its only going to get FREAKIER. Or just relax thru Friday morning recoop a bit and head back towards sandusky bay and hit cedar point's marina in middle of the afternoon apx 3 or 4 ish get cleaned up, grap a bite, hit the park on Friday nite.Come Sat Morning your only 2 miles from lymans fresh as a fiddle.Get to Lymans Enjoy the the run go over to kellys Island during the run. return to lymans marina enjoy the dinner and PARTY the nite away, crash at your slip at lymans sat nite. Come Sunday morn head back to the city ramp apx 5 miles away load up and get going by 11/12 ish Knowing that you've seen and done everything the Northern Coast has to OFFER !!!!!!!!

Thats my 2 cents worth and the wife just agreed,This would be the plan to follow IF we were able to go.BUT I would be afraid the 2nd nite over at P-I- B would not be an option more of a mandatory stay and we'd be racing acrosss erie to lymans com sat morning.
