2015 Ford F-150

If you want the f150 get it with the 5.0. Just talked to another guy last week at work that got rid of his ecoboost. That makes 4 that I know that had problems with them enough to get rid of them. Not sure if they have the problems resolved with a 2015.

I hiiiiiighly doubt anybody who can afford a brand new F-150, is going to keep it long enough to experience the problems spoken about on this thread. By the time the corrosion issues start, the truck will be owned by a tradesman or landscaper that really doesn't care about corrosion.
I realize there are people who "drive their cars into the ground" but that isn't the norm

These kind of issues can start showing up in the 5-10yr range depending on climate. I get rock chips in paint and cracked windshields in a few years here. Then corrosion starts showing up around the 8yr mark. I think you are right, that is second owner territory most of the time. But if a particular vehicle has higher incidence of corrosion or is much more costly to repair, that is going to show up in the resale value for the first owner.

Ford already has some truck power trains that people avoid, the 6.0 diesel and the 5.4 gas.
I wil be interesting to see if Ford is leading the way forward.

I have two friends with Eco Boosts. Both said they're not going that route again, but both want the new F150 with a V8 badly. I loved my F150. Gave me many, many trouble free miles. Not sure about the aluminum...Seems like a natural fit for sports car performance, but strikes me as somewhat risky in a truck that might get used pretty hard relative to a sports car. (Body and frame wise...not engine).

My Dads on his second ecoboost and this one he his planning on driving into the ground, he got the bumper to bumper warranty till 200k so time will tell how it holds up, his first one only had 70k on it but no problems on it.

Is Ford lowering the cargo capacity in the aluminium body trucks over sheet metal trucks? The lighter body would genereally mean the suspension would have to be softened up to ride smooth due to lower weight. Everyone seems to want a truck that rides like a car these days.

The latest issue(buddy's son is a Ford Tech)with the Ecoboost is the timing chains going south. They're not high milers apparently either. The techs are loosing their shirts replacing these under warr.

Not a turbo fan on anything myself let alone twin turbos.BTW they're having trouble with them also. That and the fact that nobody that I know that has one is getting anywhere close to the fuel mileage they advertised.I'd buy a Ford, but it would be a 5.0 litre.

Not sure about that, but because of the lowered weight Ford has upped the towing capacity.

After all my ranting and raving about the ecoboost guess who bought a 5.0 today, lol, nothing too fancy, all I cared about was 4x4 and the tow package.

Finally don't have to borrow Dads truck when I need to haul something :o

Getting mud flaps, bug deflector and a truxedo roll top installed before I pick it up, got a sweet deal through work and they gave me 10k for the Flex, only paid 12k 3 years ago so did good on it.

It looks really nice, congrats John. :thumb:

I have a roll-top cover on my truck, it works great.

I usually get the ones that have no snaps and has the bows built right into it. :)

IMHO John you made the right move.I wouldn't take an eco-boost on a bet.

I love the power of my ecoboost when i'm towing the 303 but it is a little soft in the ass end over bumps. I can vough the the gas mileage is what they say it is IF you are drivingunder 70 mph on the highway.( 25 mpg) with a tuner intake and exhaust. But if you're over 70, it drops back down to 17 like every other half ton out there. I only have another 2 years and its gonna go back to ford then. ( 3 yr lease). After it goes back I'll probably step up to a used F-250 or 350 platinum crew cab 4x4 with the diesel. But for now i'll enjoy the ecoboost and the turbo noises. lol:cheers:

i own a 13 supercrew 6.5 bed 3.13 gears and i love it! Had the factory install a Roush Phase one kit, ECM reprogram and intake! She has 415 hp and 516 torque! yeah 3.55 would of been better but saved 10k! Traded in my 05 5.4 . I have 13k on it and i will need new tires soon lol. Very fun truck!:thumb:
