Good Luck Mouse! Hope you get her. These 2800SX Outoboards were a limited production boat with a few built as true race boats!! I'm fortunate because my boat was built/layed up like the race boats with AME 4000 resin, a beefed up transom and blueprinted bottom but I have a full cabin!!! I also talked to the guy in NY. The boat has a new fuel tank but the cockpit floor is just laying in place with a mat over the top. It's not been glassed yet which is good in a way...you'll have easy access to inspect the stringers! Go for it and get some pictures!!:thumb:

yea that is what he said the boat is at lake george right now so i wont be able to check it out for another week an a half when i get off work. i just love the way these boats look after seeing yours i was like i need to find one of these. yeah hopefully everything falls in order for me the guy was decent on the phone took my number down.

Perfect example of OFF TOPIC posts. I thought this was going to be about JP's boat, I was wrong.

Well actually this thread was just about these style boats in general and coming up with pictures an who owns them but I guess u missed the part with the first page of pictures

hi everyone!

thanks for posting THe vid of the ocean outboard boat runnin! i havnt been able to find a single video of a 2800 sx runnin yet.

i bought the red 2800 race boat that jupiter put up a pic of in his initial post.

really like it so far. ive converted it into more of a pleasure version with the deck and sunpad over the splashwell. i hid 85 feet of red LED rope lighting in the cockpit and cuddy. installed cupholders, and an interior color change (light gray and red pearl).

after doin some research im finding out that for some reason (prolly because the steering had huge amounts of air init AND the motors were not able to be trimmed when the boat was owned by the individual before me) the engines are set WAY too low. the bullets on the nosecones are 29 inches from the transom and the prop shaft center line is dead even with the bottom of the boat (in front of each engine respectively.) i can see the holes in the mounting brackets where the engines used to be before they were moved.

after looking at Jupiters boat and the ocean outboard race boat AND talking to mike and Kip at checkmate....AND talkin to Lighspeed from OSO...the center lines should be 1.5-3 inches above the bottom.

Sweet! I love your boat! I looked at it on the internet many times thinking it is BAD! I am glad that it has found someone who will enjoy it and is working on making it run like it should!!!

thanks man!

after moving the motors up its like night and day. i barely even have to trim up to get top speed...and barely have to rim down to plane out. planes out fast.....bout 3 seconds. handles rough water better, faster top speed. better control/response. better handling in general. makes the boat way more fun to drive. it responds to the trim tabs way better. thats basically all you need to do to drive the boat. set the trim up to neutral and bump the tabs occasionally.

i need a set of 28p merc choppers after the change though...the 26s are a bit on the small side....rpms/speed climbs very quickly. acceleration is impressive and markedly improved. i think the 28s will give me higher top end and better cruise speed and still plane out just fine.
