6" or 12" jackplate

boatn70

Well-known member
so Im down to 2 that I have found...

6" TH Marine hydraulic Atlas model, (no switch or guage included) brand new, never installed

or

12" Bobs Flats Jack, hydraulic, the High speed one, used 3 years old in great condition, (includes guage, pump, hoses, switch etc)

which one will be a better choice on my 21' Pulse BR with my 225efi 3.0L

consider both quality of the jacks and most importantly the performance of the boat.

any and all opinions welcome please :D

bobs x 2.
also it is 12" which will work great on the 2100br. I have 11.5 and it is still skiable and performs well.

thanks all, i was thinking bobs but its hard to pass up a good deal on a new piece.

ianz, i know setback is good on the pulsare and the old enchanters but wasnt 100% sure how the Pulse would react to it, not many out there with experience with them.

I would expect, as with the others, that i should see some gains.

now......new hydraulic steering lines!

anyone got any connections, i may check with a local supplier to see what he can come up with.

what makes you guys like the bobs so much better than the Atlas?

this is the atlas page

mlavimodiere, i will get you the info. hes around the St Louis area, i had to talk him into possibly shipping to me in northern Illinois, not sure how far he would ship...
600 bucks was his price, if i do end up with the bobs i will PM the info on the plate first.

It's not that I like the Bob's better than the Atlas. It's the amount of setback that is more important. Your boat does not have a notch transom and is relatively heavy. You will need the 12" of setback to get the leverage needed to "fly" your hull. If you were getting a 12" Atlas, I would say go with the Atlas. A 12" Atlas is a self contained unit..the pump is inside the jackplate-no hyd. lines to run; just hook up the power and switch and you're good to go.

Jackplate questions

I have a 186 pulse with a 175 merc and thinking about a jackplate what did you end up going with and do you like it. Are there a lot of pros for a bigger set back. what would you recommend. what are some of the pros and cons to having a jackplate
