It's taking some figuring out but I hit 60 today in some chop, wich was the top speed with the same rig on my Diplomat. I got really good at deadening the chine walk with my Diplomat, but the Predictor is going to take some more finess to tame.

well...now look what you made me do....http://checkmate-boats.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24122

Lol...the wife wasnt real happy when i drug this home... but $500 i just couldnt pass it up. I also have my eye on a 150 xr2 for sale locally. :bigthumb:

One question about your build though.... What type of fiberglass did you use for your seat mounts? I need to do my enchanters seats asap. I rode on a cooler all last season..lol. Not sure water patrol would like that much if i got pulled over.

That looks in better shape than ours was they are really fun hulls good luck with it.

Thanks. It really isnt bad at all...The hull is in great shape besides the fading. I also havent actually found any soft spots in the floor at all. Im really contemplating just cleaning it up and hanging a 150 of the back and go boating. I really need to check out the transom a little better though.

I just read through your build nice job the boat came out supper sweet thanks for sharing. Wish I read it be for I started mine I picked up some pointers.

For some reason I missed the last few months of post on this Thread.

You did a wonderful job and you have a good friend to help you with all of that hard work!

Another great Checkmate saved!

Congrats Adam.

Thanks, I think those are all sharp looking hulls, a little faster and meaner looking than my old diplomat, which I had a similar bad seat mount experience in, like yours, luckily I wasn't going too fast when it happened. To answer your question all the supplies came from Joe at Merton Marine. Polyester resin, a couple different types of fiberglass mat, gelcoat, hull and deck puddy. Tell Joe what you are working on and he can be very helpful getting you set up. I plan on posting some pictures of all the products we used, but a lot of them are already in the thread if you read back through it.

Nice job Adambomb --- real nice --- love the way it came out

When you guys laid the glass on transom did you have it clamped an wet it out right on the transom or dry fit it remove it wet the transom then restick it back up for total wet out.

Throughout the entire project, we dry fit the glass mat, then
applied the resin with a paintbrush or roller. No, sticking mat to a pre-resined surface, that can be problematic in many cases. Also no clamps when we applied resin, but a few cases we let the mat sit clamped for a while to conform to the shape we wanted then removed the clamps when it's time the apply resin.

Great thread and the boat looks awesome! I am getting ready to do a full restore on a 1980 predictor. I wouldnt have had the guts or knowledge to attempt it if I hadnt come across this forum and all the great rebuild threads.

I beat this drum every now and then. Chine walk with the Predictor/Enticer hull is a myth. That pad hull is good to 90+ MPH. You are experiencing sloppy steering and soft motor mounts. Its not something you want to drive through. Its dangerous. Your motor is flopping around. Get it fixed if you want to go over 60. I drive mine upwards of 90 MPH with hydraulic steering and solid motor mounts and I do it with the same steering feel I used to have in the 40's. 75 MPH is like cruising 35 used to be. Its effortless.
