79 ENCHANTER/V8 JOHNSON

In my opinion any boat can hit the 100 mph mark if you take the time to set it up right and get more pony power than she rated for. ( I had a 14ft 1968 G.W. Invader for my 1st *Scream -n-Fly boat * the hole boat only weighed in at 250 - 300 lbs it's was rated for 100 hp I had a 115 Merc on it and I didn't know it but my bottom carb quit working, and I was clocked on Radar back in 1989 at 70 mph. When the carbs were all working right I would ride on the lower unit the whole boat was out of the water. I put a 14 gallon fuel tank up front for a baslist weight and I know she would run at least 80 mph if I had a 135-150 that were the same weight in-line 6 motors I know it would have broke 100 mph easy.. (( It's all in the set-up and the hp, and not for get the right prop )) ~winks~ and ( A crazy pilot ) : )

There's no way that boat will hit a 100 with a 275. And there's a long way between 80 and a 100 and 35hp wouldn't have made it happen on a GW

I am interested in top speed also. Some sort of GPS speed. I got a 79 enchanter with a merc 275 project is why. Also what prop are you running?

horsepower to weight ratio. that enchanter is heavier than my spectra and I run a v-8 johnson turning 400 plus hp I have a jackplate and setback best attempts have only been in the low 80's I have also been told by the people at kunkels Marine who have set up a starflite that ran in the 90's with a v-8 that I was getting about all the speed possible out of my spectra. starflites hulls weigh in at about 1300lbs, my spectra weighs in at 1800lbs according to the brochures. and I know the enchanter has to be a heavier hull just looking at them, allthough I don't now the exact weight. I'm not trying to bust balls but you are going to need a lot of HP to turn that speed or a pair of them v-8s with a lot of hp. The laws of physics dictates this not me. Good luck.

You are gonna be a mid 70's boat at best. There are alot of lighter more efficient 20-21ft boats that aren't tripple digit boat with 300+hp

I agree 100%. If I hit 75mph in mine, that will be fast enough for me. Something just dont excite me about 100 mph on water, much less in a 21' boat. Now get me into a big offshore race boat and crank it up:bounce:!

:bounce:MOTA SOLD!!!,THANKS GARY, TRAILER GONE TO, JUST PUT THE HULL ON E-BAY LOVE THE BIG BOAT,LATER TATER:banana::banana::banana:PS ,THROW AWAY THAT BOOK!!!!

A friend of mine with a 42' fountain took me on a 102mph ride-along... I have no interest in doing that ever again.:eyecrazy:
