85 looper and a few problems

another question for you since you went through all of this

Hey Combat, What would you suggest I have my techs go over on mine, it runs good, but besides the control box feeling like it needs a overhaul or **** I will replace it with one of the newer black OMC ones, mines the old white one and it dont feel right....I drive alot of boats and maybe its still setup with mine, but my 140 V4 seems too smooth, its not that raucous, it, I dont know, seems weak, so I want my guys to go over all of the systems that wear out, like fuel line, bulb, ends, etc,,,,,, what would you guys suggest, my tech with 30yrs of OMC work already said the thermostats under the bubble area, he said they are a pain, but he owes work, PLEASE ADVISE WHAT ELSE

On Daren34's original crosscharged 140, the boydsun reeds woke it up, but you want to get the dual stage reeds. Make sure to follow the jetting instructions or you coulb burn a piston...
what prop are you running? jackplate?
we had a turbo 12 3/4 x 19 for skiing and it ran great until it burnt a cyl
we had rebuilt the lower twice and new pistons once already, so he traded the motor for one of the then new 2.0l loopcharged 140's..... with a 6" hydraulic plate, it would turn a raker 13 1/4 x 22 at 6300 rpm---nothing in the water but the lower unit

that lil red thing on your fuel valve is used to by pass the fuel enricher,,when your cranking the engine and push in the key it opens the fuel sylonoid and lets fuel into the ports,,if you ever get a dead battery and need to start it ,flip that lil red arm on the enricher sylonoid and it will bypass it ,,allowing you to pump fuel into the ports by squesing the inline primer bulb........be sure to close it before starting or it'll keep dumping in the fuel every turn of the engine and flood out REAL quick !!!
