aquabuff

from the windshield 2 feet out towards the bow took about an hour including wax. it looked better so i put wax on that spot and wow did it pop!

Is it a wax ?? Or a restorer and then use a wax ??
Is it recommended to use on a brand new boat and how long does it last ..

As the owner of a detailing business and someone who is probably the most anal person you would ever come across, I recomend Wizards. Go to www.wizardsproducts.com and read up on them. You will not see a push towards boats since they do not market themselves that way. I started out using race Glaze back in the early 90's and loved it. Then the owner of RG sold the company and started Wizards. He took RG and improved upon it and came up with Wizards. from everything i have every tried, Nothing has come close to beating Wizards.

Aqua buff does NOT protect, you need to apply a protective polish afterwards. I DO NOT recommend waxes and I NEVER use wax for my business or personal use.

I used 1000 and 2000 Aqua buff last spring and it worked great. If you have deep oxidation it will not get it done you have to wet sand. Also it is messy not easy to work with and goes through pads like crazy. But it works much better than other compounds.

just got done doing the whole boat with aquabuff, then put rain dance with carnuba over top. man what a difference!!!!!!!!

It is like a rubbing compound so you would never want to use it on a newer boat. It is basically a silica sand suspended in an water based medium. It must be done with a higher speed rotary buffer (over 2500 rpm) and it makes a mess because the sand goes everywhere. It is best used for restoring tired gelcoats. Pull the hardware and go to town. Only then do you polish or wax.
I've used Race Glaze polish which is very easy to apply but I prefer Liquid Glass. It seems to last longer and repells the water better. But the wax job is only as good as the surface prep. Waxing (polish) does very little unless you can first buff the oxidation out and that is what Aqua-buff does very well.

Hey Shameless

Why don't you recommend using wax ? What do you recommend? The sun is brutal on our gel-coats down here in Gatorland.

I just spoke to Wizards and they recommend using the Finish cut compound first, then using the Shine master polish. I personally use Aqua buff 2000 first then I use Yaght club polish on the boats that I have done have come out looking perfect.

Shameless!

Which Wizard product do you use or recomend??

All of them!!!

Seriously, If your paint or gel is already in good shape, their Supreme Seal is Amazing!! I highly recommend their compounds and polish as well to get gel and paint tip top.

You can go to www.wizardsproducts.com amd read up on them. I can tell you in person much better then typing, but the guys/gals at Wizards have a great site to read on!! Do not be afraid that you do not see boats mentioned on their site. They just do not market that way, though their products are 100% gel coat safe and body shop safe!!! I regulary use all of the compounds, polish, supreme seal, mist and shine, and metal polish.

Wax will buld up and eventually cause yellowing. Look what happens to floors with wax build up, same thing applies. Also, wax does not breath and Gel coat MUST breath.

As I stated above, I recommend and use for my detailing business, Wizards products. They have excellent UV inhibitors. The Supreme Seal will out last the regular polish by Wizards. Now, no matter what you use, in Southern sun, I recommend the boat be polished at least every other month to keep a deep shine. Also, with many polishes, the more coats you apply, the deeper the shine gets, although one oat will do. But, the depth of shine does get addicting!!!:thumb:
