Big Red and Icboater meet

How long did it take you to graduate high school
eek5drop.gif

lol.. he's a college grad now, custom bike builder went back to
school to complete his teaching degree..gotta respect that!!

that's me standing on the edge of my mate just before I pissed
all over that baja outlaw! lol, nah, we had a great time and all
those people were cool to party with!!:thumb:

looks more like you have that young lady bent over the back of the boat!!

I was able to hook up with Iceboater and his lovely wife yesterday on LKN. They are great people and he has an awsome 30' Mate. He already had it on the trailer for the trip back home but I hope to get a ride in it someday......I hear it really runs w/ the procharger!

SCT

:lol::lol:Imagine how much faster your mate would be with that same engine:poke:

He has a point red. You need to get you that motor and do some testing:devil: You think he would miss it;)

Some baja's are slow, some are fast. But without debate, none run like a mate:poke:

A 300 Convincor with a factory merc. 525 will run 80 gps with 4 people and fuel. The baja pictured is 26 foot and it runs 80 gps with a factory 600sc merc. I really like Mike and his Baja is a nice boat but he told me he was disappointed with the hull trying to obtain speed. He has complimented me several times on how good my Checkmate carries the hull threw the water.

just got back from lake norman.we had a great time and hangin' out with big red was a blast. big red showed us around and made us feel very wecome. we enjoyed many beverages with br and his friends.sct came by before we left and we went for a ride in his twin outboard cm. big red and sct both have super nice rides and back it up on speed.as for the baja,he will be the first to tell you that he can't run like a checkmate.
the week-end before,we were hangin' out with dog school, drewman, and double checker on lake cumberland.we also enjoyed many beverages and had a great time. we are looking forward to the next time we meet up.

Mslcboater says that Big Red wasn't supposed to call me out on my cooking abilities. I do no deny that I am a country girl and know a thing or two about country cooking, but that is just what we are used to at our house. I am just very happy that everyone had a great time with Barry and I. We just love to hang out with great people. Thanks for all the thumbs up!!!!;)

My wife and I have both had adequate experience in the racing venue. She has a box full of trophies as well as I. Neither of us are ignorant to the venue of boat racing; as we have been associated with all the offshore racing circuits that have been active during the last ten years. We, as a team, do not choose to speak negatively about any other boat manufacturer. We believe, that if an owner has to speak negatively about an opposing manufacturer, that this is truly the most desparate route for a boat owner to take to justify the reason for the difference in performance. We have always taken the high road. Our BEST FRIEND has never had anything other than a Baja. He has nothing bad to say about the baja boats. The only thing is, that he has been the guest in our boat many times and has had absolutely no complaints to the performance of our boat. He is searching for a method to make his hull run as fast as ours.

So, in support of Big Red, not everyone who owns a Checkmate, currently or formerly, will be happy to know that the Checkmate name is now very closely associated with the Baja Organization. We all have no choice but to remember that BAJA WENT OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!!!

As for the true Checkmate owners, I guess we can only hope that the new boats rolling out of the factory actually have no reason to be referred to as BECKMATES!
:poke:

Still no Baja for me sorry guys I don't care who puts it together. I choose Checkmate because they are unique with their bullet shape hull that says " GET SOME" . The pride threw family tradition and employees. When I choose Checkmate the Combs family was still in full operation and that had something to say. When I decided to get a bigger boat than my smaller mate. I looked hard and read heavy. Then again I fell back on a Checkmate. I had to drive 7 freak-in hours to lay my eyes on my first Convincor in person. Oh yeah the local boat trader had plenty of Baja's for sale but I am different. I can not stand owning something that everybody else owns. Their was plenty of fountains also around me being they are made here.

I just see Baja's all the time and here numerous complaints on them. I do not disrespect anybody for owning one. Somebody has to buy them regardless. Its called the boat fever and that's where Fountain came up with the name Fountain Fever. The little guy wanting a bigger boat and got the boat fever.

I like you Icboater but that Beckmate ain't no Checkmate brother

And if I misspell anything this is my 13th beer

i agree with you big red . a checkmate is a boat made prior to checkmate marine, dean reynolds even told me so. a beckmate is a product of doug, not bill and it shows.as i said before, i will not buy a beckmate.

too many spell checkers

hey red, I won't swear to it, but I think it's LC in lcboater,
as in lake cumberland, not Ic, am I correct lcboater?

just thought I'd clear that up, or stand corrected:poke:

red has been taking a lot of heat for spelling issues, but
I don't recall anyone gaining any rep power for being a
good speller or using proper grammar, in fact, most don't,
n I aint got no problams wit dat homay, y do u?:eyecrazy:

I could be wrong, it's happened once or twice..lol..

BC and family and checkmate lines... forever!

DS and baja hulls...never!!

IMHO, all Checkmate had to do was market their product better
to gain more exposure and sell more boats, but I am guessing
that BC made all the money he wanted with the production
numbers he had, more boats sales = more work = less time to boat!
Money is not everyones sole motivation, quality of life and make
enough to have what you want and have the time to enjoy it is
my goal - if I get too busy at my business it taps into my boating
time, and I can't have that!!

Checkmate wasn't broken and in need of a fix, If you want to sell
more Checkmate boats, market to a larger audience, advertise.
Some people in the mid and far west usa never heard of Checkmate,
and if they had they might have walked right past the baja and
into a 'mate!! So don't change Checkmate, market it better:sssh:

dog school, you are correct, it is lc as in lake cumberland. doesn't matter about grammer ,spelling ,or any thing else as long as i am called a friend. it loooks to me like we all agree on this subject, just for diffferent reasons.we all agree we own the finest boats made by checkmate and we are disapointed that the new checkmate will not live up to our standards. we are the true checkmate people !

you tell vince i owe him more than a string.vince is a # 1 guy with me ! lori has a draw full of g strings if vince want's a g string she can probably find one!:sssh:
