Bill's Enforcer with Twins

been spending time on my other boats; did some repairs on the crownie this spring; and needed repairs on the house. Has taken away most of my time for the Enforcer; I did do a little work on the dash and have been cleaning some of my left over rigging.

More pertinent to this discussion, I have been drawing plans for a transom extension; and have been debating on building it myself or buying a aluminum fab from Armstrong, Stainless or Seamount. I did some research on several fiberglass extension makers, Hermco in particular; seems a couple use Coosa as the structural components. Got the brain to whirling and I can build a extension for approx 1/5 the cost. The fiberglass ext can then be glassed to the transom; unitizing it to the boat. Just a thought:) The $3000 avg cost of a transom extension hits hard in the pocket book.:yell:

Spent some time on the phone w/ the coosa boys in alabama and they feel their products are suitable for any structural component in the marine industry. We'll see:D The wife and I have not given up on the ol Enforcer. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping I'll have the time and funds to finish her by next summer:banana:

Bill, I was pleased to see the pics of your Enforcer; in particular the first two of the boat in the water; just confirmed what i knew about floatation extensions. They offer better boyancy and keep the boat flatter in the water. Hole shot is improved considerably and prevents the nose from pointing straight up on take off. Makes me feel much better about going this route.

Hick, what motors are you planning on using?

Good question, Basically it will be what ever I can afford; the sale of my Crownline and what ever I can save. I won't use anything less than twin merc 225's; Ideally I'd like to mount 250's or 300's. Not too picky on year of mfg; just want a solid running pair.

twins

I have an '84, and the dash shape is different.

If you are going to put twins on it I would use the aluminum bracket rather than fiberglass, as well, look at the pics in the transom area you'll see that they glassed what looks like a cut down 4X4 horizontally that the top bracket bolts go through, there's no thought on wether or not that brackt is unitized to the boat, if you want and aluminum bracket I would call Stainless and see if Greg still has it in his computer or I can measure mine and give the basic measurements to get it right. I would think if you made a strong engough glass bracket it would be heavier than the aluminum one.

Well I gave Impulse the rest of the pics you guys wanted, I included the dimesions of the bracket as well, you'll have to excuse the dirty boat it was at Blarneys last night and I didn't get a chance to clean it.

There's 2 pics showing how I covered the old steering holes in the back and I used part of an old Evinrude 155 commercial decal to cover the rear stereo mount holes

old hick have you finished your boat? im about to start my rig with twins. question bill how fast is your boat running. just trying to get a guess on what i will run with 225 mercs. also i wanted to know if any one has ran twins with a 24 inch setback. I want my bracket to have a platform. thanks for help guys

My boat with stock 175's on it runs 74ish, when it was new it would bounce 80 but it had 235s on it, the engines on it now are just stock grocery getters, just nice stock engines, big charginging systems, I wouldn't set thim back any firther than they are, as a matter of fact if it could i would have them at 12" and 2" higher offset built in the bracket.
