been spending time on my other boats; did some repairs on the crownie this spring; and needed repairs on the house. Has taken away most of my time for the Enforcer; I did do a little work on the dash and have been cleaning some of my left over rigging.
More pertinent to this discussion, I have been drawing plans for a transom extension; and have been debating on building it myself or buying a aluminum fab from Armstrong, Stainless or Seamount. I did some research on several fiberglass extension makers, Hermco in particular; seems a couple use Coosa as the structural components. Got the brain to whirling and I can build a extension for approx 1/5 the cost. The fiberglass ext can then be glassed to the transom; unitizing it to the boat. Just a thought
The $3000 avg cost of a transom extension hits hard in the pocket book.
Spent some time on the phone w/ the coosa boys in alabama and they feel their products are suitable for any structural component in the marine industry. We'll see
The wife and I have not given up on the ol Enforcer. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping I'll have the time and funds to finish her by next summer
Bill, I was pleased to see the pics of your Enforcer; in particular the first two of the boat in the water; just confirmed what i knew about floatation extensions. They offer better boyancy and keep the boat flatter in the water. Hole shot is improved considerably and prevents the nose from pointing straight up on take off. Makes me feel much better about going this route.
