Black 283 Build in Charlotte

Ordered the coolers. Also purchased oil filter relocation kits. Pulling the engines to change the oil wouldn't be fun.

This weekend is starting to look doubtful for the first run.

Have them put in the holes threw the hull under the motors. Makes oil changes a breeze.

Yep, I run one and it comes right out through my drain hole. I even have my plug tethered to it so I don't lose it. I just pull the hose out through the drain hole, uncap it, drop it in the drain pan and go sit down and drink beer. I usually do this in the evening and let it drain overnight. Come out in the morning, fill her up and change the filters and off I go!!!

Parts are in, props are in. Definitely won't be this weekend. Just one small thing after another. Last night found out the pulley's don't quite line up with the new aluminum water pump. Not sure if we should shim the pulley's or just put on the steel water pumps.

Hopefully start installing the engines in the boat in a few days.

I had such a hell of a time with my old accessories that I gave up on them and bought a whole new kit from hardin :-\

Alot of custom stuff needing to be done and just tedious work. Had alpha bellhousing, needed bravo. Pulley's wouldn't line up with aluminum water pumps so we needed custom spacers, on and on and on.

Hope to fire them today outside of the boat and if the hot rod guides smile on us, maybe maybe maybe ready tomorrow.

Decided on amsoil for the drives, seems to be what everyone goes with in these.

Just a quick pick to share, Serviceable 35 micron pre filter, holley black fuel pump. High flow 10 micron spin on filter and marine aeromotive regulator.

My fiancée picks her up today so she will be waiting for me to get home to begin the clean up / wax. She will be in the water this weekend. Ran in to countless more things. Needed new shift cables, alternators, main wiring harness was relocated because old one plugged in and was laying on the top of the engine, on and on and on. We are running a soul in the drives and rotella in the engine. Engines are broken in but of course I'll put some easy hours on her and do a quick oil change. Came out beautiful. All custom lines on the boat so i don't have to worry about the ethanol in pump gas eating lines. Here are some more pics.

Don't know if you read in my thread but I have that same exhaust and it cost me 85 HP on the dyno. Just FYI if your builder didn't dyno with that exhaust your actual HP in the boat may be less.

Oh really.......and no exhaust want on the dyno. I guess we will know when I open it up. A hypothetical 160hp drop would definitely show up on Brett from b blades calculation. I haven't read your thread either but I'm going to look it up now. I actually posed that question to a bunch of people and most everyone thought I should be good to go with those, in fact was basically the only major thing they said I didn't need to change. If it turns out to be hurting me that much I'll consider a swap.

So I'm waxing the boat this morning and taking her out. I'm just going to see how she runs and play it by ear. I'll report back tonight with an update. It's like Christmas when I'm 10, couldn't sleep lol

Not bad for a first run all in all. Starboard engine was dying at idle, starting meddling with the idle but there was black smoke upon startup every time it died and it was clear that it was running to rich. It wouldn't stay running unless I had the idle up way to high. I didn't want to dig in the carbs and wanted my guy to do it, but knew with it rich it would be safe to run (probably just float level). I must say the boat sounded loud, but no where near as loud as I thought. I'm pretty sure that factory exhaust with silent choice was muffling it a little bit. Boat got on plane wonderfully and you could tell it had an abundance of power. This is a waaaaay different boat than my formula. I was very very surprised, it runs MUCH smoother than formula did. The nice tabs on this boat and hydraulic steering make such a HUGE difference vs the stock bennet tabs and cable steering on the formula. I can now see why everyone says to upgrade (I'm still only on my second V-hull and this is my first with all this nice equipment). The steering however is much slower than I'd prefer. It was a much tighter ratio on the formula, I think I' like that better. I will also say I feel the volvo dps drive is MUCH more responsive than the bravos. I ran the boat in varying conditions on the lake trying to learn trim and tab placement. It cruises 50 mph effortlessly. When I started to get on it I had just 1 or two bars down on the tabs. From my limited experience that seemed to work well in conjuction with the drives trimmed up (I'll continue to play with that). I will say that there is something going on. I'm headed here in a 30 minutes to the flat water. When I was coming home yesterday one of my buddies with a 35 fountain was accross the lake, he didn't know I had my boat. I shot accross and he knew it was me. I got on it a little bit and passed him in some 1 foot chop at 80mph and back off. I wasn't paying much attention to the guages as I was more focused on the not crashing, as it's new boat :eyecrazy:. However I definately felt like at that speed I didn't have a lot left. I tried to get on it again closer to home, but there was some chop and I wasn't that comftorable. I think that sticks all the down the boat would be good for 85mph yesterday so something isn't right. Called my guys to talk about it, he is convinced the props are cavitating. Again, there was some chop so my eye wasn't really on the guages but I think I was at the appropriate rpm when the 6k at the low 80's mark. I'm going to go out this morning with my father and take detailed mph vs speed marks in flat water so we can pay attention. I personally am speculating something is choking the engines bad. My first suspect is the 10x2 flame arrestor. I don't know if it could choke it that much but I'm going to pull them off for one run and see what happens. If that's not it, and I am pulling the rpm I'm thinking it has to be the manifolds. Or even a combination of exhaust manifold, flame arrestor. I'll have more info tonight to post up. Here's a few bad videos and a pic lol.
