Checkmate Regatta/Poker Run In Ohio

Their not 4 stars, but not Spring break dumps either.I got 3 nites at best budget. Besides there all just about next door to each other on Cleveland Dr. So if you see a rig that looks like the circus came to town that would be yours truely.Feel free to come on over. But don't forget your sun glasses. merc245

Thinking out loud, any chance anyone with a few extra props might want to bring them along so the group might get to try them out? "I'll let you try mine if you let me try yours" kind of thing ;-) Maybe even sell some to make up for some of the money spent on the Regatta

jrumon, if you still have any for sale could you bring them to the Regatta?

Any chance we could have a little boat parts swap meet like the car show guys have? I may be way off base but thought I'd put it out there, I'm sure we all have stuff we never use and might like to trade or sell

You might want to email "check n out" (see earlier posts for his contact info) ASAP because the deadline for registration is July 2nd and they won't be able to get you in after that date.

Can't wait and looking forward to meeting everyone,

i have held out until the last minute to see if we can make the run but wifes neck and back cant handle it too good but we might be up to sit in the bay and watch some

Does anyone know a "time-line" of events for the race???

I just received my packet in the mail yesterday but there were only 2 things in it, a form to fill out and a rules sheet.

I have to be in Cleveland around 5:00, but I would like to make the run, zip home and head to Cleveland if possible.

Anyone know more details?

I'm running out of time- FAST. Anyone know a time-line for the race and the events. I want to join in, but I do need to leave the marina and head out around 4:00 or 5:00.... whish is easy since I live about 15 minutes away by boat.

When's the race start? When's dinner? When will boats start arriving?

You might want to email one of the organizers directly, or maybe call Kunkel's Marine. No schedule has been sent out yet so we don't know much at this point. An earlier post said they would be sending schedules out to registered attendees on July 2nd, and that is the deadline as well.

I'll be there Friday and Saturday and I am assuming others will be as well so expect boats in the water early Sat morning

A few questions for those in the know with this event...

Does our fee take care of the following:
Saturday
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Breakfast
12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Lunch/Lyman Harbor
5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Dinner

Any drinks included ;-)

I also see a Friday night 6:00-9:00 at Cabana Jacks. Is Cabana Jacks kid friendly early in the evening and do they serve a good dinner?

Same question for Saturday at Coco Beanos 7-10, kid friendly early in the night? We would love to be kidless and party into the night with you all, but this is such a cool event we couldn't leave her behind. She will grow up on a good steady diet of Checkmates ;-) and will probably out-party us someday, LOL.

I second and third the question on number of boats at this point... please?

The $195 entry fee does include a lite breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As for Cabana Jacks, it is a nightclub that has excellent food. It is kid-friendly early in the evening but when the band starts (10:00 p.m.), it does get busy. Coco Beanos is a live band that is scheduled to be at Lyman Harbor Saturday evening. We are receiving registrations daily so we will not know a boat count until the day of the event. For the registrations that we have received, you will be receiving a regatta agenda in the mail within the next couple of days.

Checkmate 98,

You said "We are receiving registrations daily so we will not know a boat count until the day of the event. For the registrations that we have received, you will be receiving a regatta agenda in the mail within the next couple of days"

I thought the deadline was July 2nd? Has that been extended? What is the count as of the deadline. We just want to know how many so far.

The registrations that we are still receiving are from people who purchased new boats from one of our sponsors and from people who verbally committed to coming to the regatta/poker run. Currently there are 30+ boats participating in the poker run/regatta. If anyone has any specific questions, please e-mail us at either TracyMlls@cs.com or jnmrcln@aol.com.

Ohio folks...

How's the weather look for the weekend at this point? Are they saying Dennis will be there for our Regatta? This will certainly spoil things if he's headed our way for the weekend

I wouldn't worry about the weather yet. The prediction are wrong more then they are right.

2 weeks ago, they were calling for T-Storms all weekend, not a single drop fell. It was a great weekend too. No wind, hot, etc.

The Sandusky Bay area is pretty neat, it seems to get missed by many storms and the bad weather. Sandusky, Toledo, Cleveland get all the bad stuff.

I'm probably jinxing things... I hope not.
