We have just purchased a beautiful new 240 Convincer and have a couple of questions. The first is there anyway we can replace the stock throttle control with Keefers. The second is what is the top speed when we are running a 7.4 liter MPI motor with a Mirage II plus 23 degree prop. With two people and about a quarter tank of gas we are hitting 62mph. We are told it should be able to do about 65mph, and then more if we work the right prop.
Thanks
Larry

BOAT SHOULD PICK UP A LITTLE SPEED ONCE THE MOTOR BREAKS IN. DON'T BE IN A HURRY TO RUN FAST. TAKE YOUR TIME AND BREAK THE MOTOR IN PROPERLY.

my 242 only runs about 58 mph gps, with the 7.4 carb motor. you should be faster because of the boat size (yours should weigh less!!)
62-65 sounds about right, follow jupiters advice, break it in right!!

get the setup right and you should get that 65 i would hope..........good luck

what was the water condtions. the water might of been to flate causing the few mph differance. need some chop to get some air under the hull freeing it up . plus goood ole' seat time is needed.

Thanks for the response guys. If the prop pushes 4500 rpms, will working it for more speed push the rpms up, witch is too high?

BOAT WILL RUN FASTER ON A COOL LOW HUMIDITY DAY RATHER THAN A HOT/HUMID DAY. SEE IF YOU CAN BORROW A BRAVO 1 PROP WITH A 22-24 PITCH AND SEE IF YOUR TOP END INCREASES. AS FAR AS THE CONTROLS/STICKS YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO MARINE MACINE OR DANA PRODUCTS. THEY MAKE REALLY TRICK STUFF!!
