Merc's 250XS is a consumer motor produced in the Racing Factory...Two years warranty. It is still rated within the rules for HP rating, is it not? yes the others were 4stokes but hp BRP chosen to show up I guess we could have had two direct injection outboards.
As far as props goes, anyone could have used what ever they wanted. Suzuki or yamaha could have used Mercury Props or any other available to the general public. Just because Mercury offers propellers that work, and a custom service available to anyone willing to anti up, good for them.
Personally, I don't like how they look at the fuel economy catagory. Who the hell is going to drive those boats at 20MPH? It think for a majority of boaters the numbers that matter in this catagory are 3000-WOT. But, the numbers are all posted for the reader and they can make up there own mind.
I think the one thing that having a direct injection motor against the 4strokes does is show how much better they perform and that they are as good or better on fuel. This shows the technology in a favourable light and benefits BRP as well, as maybe some people will hav their eyes open and consider this product. If you hate Mercury you have a choice.
I can see your perspective on this one Riley, doesn't mean I can't give you a hard time though. LOL.
