So the 259 is alive again ! Went out to the local resevoir and tried out the new motor and I must say I am very happy.. had three adults and 1/2 tank of fuel and was getting 5600 rpm with a heavily cupped 28 bravo from BBLADES so I believe its a runner.. no gps reading yet..

What kind of power are you making?
I still have not figured out what kind of prop to buy but I think something what you have got might be close.

Not sure why turbo motors are not used actually. You could run a large efficient turbo and the lag would not really be a downside other than a little longer to initially plane. I'm not sure if there is a water cooled turbine housing though.

I did see a Senator about a year ago in here.. He bought it new with no power plant and put a small block chevy with a turbo. It was red with One tru-hull pipe.. Does anyone remember this boat. It was nice. The owners son put it in..

Glad to hear its back up and running!

I heard somthing happened at the Cesars Creek shootout, but not the whole story.

Sounds like its running really good if its spinning a 28 to 5600.:thumb:

it is surprising you don't see more turbo boats, but they are much harder to tune than a supercharged motor so that may be a large factor. I have a V8 turbo car I built and the tune is never quite right since turbo's don't build boost the same way every time depending on sooooo many factors.

They are plenty of water cooled turbos out there

I hate to rob Brent's thread but Bill (check253) is running a turbo setup that is one of the sexist engines I've seen. Then there is the acceleration ....OMG! I will go against a lot of others mindset and say I'd love to see more boosted boats and even some 6 & 4 cylinder power plants :)

259

sorry to take so long to reply ,, Its 565 BBC was not dyno;d so not sure of power but should be close to 700hp.. last year I was running a 555 that swallowed an exhaust valve at the ceasars creek shootout well actually the head came off the valve but either way it wasnt pretty...any ways the 555 was super mild and the 565 has more compression more cylinder head and zero lash lifters (which i believe the lifters are what really caused all the havoc anyways) brodix intake , clay smith cam etc.. just ordered external steering so hopefully get that on soon... and look forward to the shoot out again this year....loved seeing Daniels Super Boat run ...WHAT A BEAST !! AND hopefully this year Brian and hudy come up and Ill try and keep Jason K away from the goat!!! :poke:

Sounds like a pretty badass powerplant!:bigthumb:

Looking forward to hearing/seeing it this year. Did you go with full hydraulic steering, or just the add-on?

Imo, full is really worth every penny.;)
