Jupiter Fl sandbar 75mph pass

I'm running w/10 in set back,250 xs w/1.62 and 25 trophy plus ,2 in. below pad..
Any idea what rpm and speed (gps) i should be getting on pulsare LD 2100..??
Thanks
Pierre

I'm not sure what the rpm range is on the 250XS, but I do know it is a little higher that the 225. I am going to guess and say 6000. If that is correct, you should gps around 80 or 81. If it is 6200, 83 and change. These are just guess's, but I bet I am close! boatman:cheers:

claupie,

I think boatman has hit it pretty close. I know Rayz here has a 2100BR with a 250 with 1.75 lower. I drove it last summer. I think he was very close to 80+-. He did not have a GPS. We were going by rpms and prop pitch. I know he was looking at running a labbed Trophy 27 this summer. I'm not sure where you are with rpms but hotdaddy27 runs his 26 with 1.62 and close to 6000 is into the low 80's. You are still conservative on setback and propshaft height. Low water pickup ? water pressure at WOT ?

I'm going to hopefully run the boat again (by myself) on wednesday with my GPS and check my tach..maybe my eyesite is getting old and it said 5600 rpm instead of 4600 rpm??? Maybe I have 1.75 gears???...I just assumed the 1.62 gear ratio was standard. It may make more sense because if I input into the prop slip speed calculator 1.75 ration/26+1=27 pitch/5600rpm=82 mph theoretical speed X 8% slip = 75 MPH which is what the Livorsi speedometer shows....

I think you're onto something ! I'll bet on the 1.75 and 5600. Keep us posted. Everyone's all over this like flies to ***** !

Are you sure you don't have the Skater Limited Edition Pulsare ?:poke:

On a serious note, didn't JP take a bunch of weight off of his hull when he did the resto???

If so, how much?

That may help ad a few MPH as well.

Curious!! If i go to 15 in set back and 1 1/4 in below pad w/27 pitch, what would i gain mph...
My lower unit has low water pick-up and is a torquemaster, and is hydro lift recommended ??

It's the secret, light weight, hi-tech Jupiter Black Majic Rocket edition!:sssh:

I never weighed the amount of water saturated crap that came out of the boat but I can tell you that the stringers and lateral outboard stringer supports are all Mantex, there is no foam under the floor, there is no heavy plywood sub floor under the fuel tank for drainage to the transom, and the bulkheads on both the front and back of the fuel tank are double glassed 1/2" marine ply. I would guess the weight savings could be 150 lbs..maybe more??

Hum ,very intersting thread,i'm learning here !!

It's an education for all of us when it comes to setup!! I've been doing this a long time and I'm still learning....the funny thing is that I never thought to check my tach setting in the back when we installed my Livorsi gages...I assumed it was set correctly when ordered and could not figure why it was showing 6900 rpm on a 3.0 liter motor. It was set to 4 stroke motor configuration...I had to turn the dial with a screwdriver to the 12 pole position...which shoud be correct unless someone tells me otherwise!!

I don't mean to hijack Jup's thread. I was running a stock Fleetmaster with dual water pickups at 13 1/2" of setback and 3/4" below pad. I had good water pressure yet. I was losing bow lift as I jacked higher but I believe the ticket is to get a larger diameter prop as you jack to higher dimensions. The Trophy props are 13 3/4" diameter. The Hydromotive and Bravo series props are 15 1/4" diameter. Bluehealer and checkmate250 have had great success running above the pad 1"+ with any where from 14 1/2"-18" of setback. I believe as you get above pad a cone with low water pickup is necessary. Bluehealer is running a Titus cone TorqMaster and checkmate250 is running a sportmaster. This year I'll join them with a setback of 15 1/2" and a Titus coned Fleetmaster. A hydraulic jackplate definitely makes life easier. You'll be able to dial in on the fly !

Good Luck to all with setups. We all learn from eachother, as people push the envelope with these boats.

My guess is, Jupiter is running 74-75, but tach is wrong and he has 1.75 gears like mine had until I bought a lower unit from a jacka$$. Now I have a 3litre 225 with 1.87 gears. boatman

Jup, take down your serial # off of the motor bracket and simply call Merc during regular business hours.

I have done this many times with my other motors. THEY ARE GREAT!

They will tell you the max RPM, Gear Ratio from the Factory, and all sorts of other stuff (make a list).

Good luck.
