Max HP for 1987 13' Playmate?

I'm looking to repower a Playmate; currently has the original 45 merc on it.
I know it's rated for up to a 50, but does anyone have experience with larger output outboards on these boats?
What's the max I can put on this and maintain a safety margin?

50hp! Anything over that opens the door for liability if something happens. And... fake news would report it as an overpowered speedboat
 
I think Randy still has that F-13 for sale but with a 60 horse now
