Members Rides

Thanks, its been alot of fun, not sure if i like driving it more or working on it more. The boat is light and easy to handle, I like it that way but it does come at a price it gets tossed around alot. I'm going to do some experimenting tomarrow, its supposed to be nice out and my buddy wants to take his checkmate out (81 centurion w/305) so I took out my back seat completely and I'm moving the battery and gas tank foreward a bit to see how that affects it. I wouldn't mind just making the boat a 2 seater since its usually just me and my wife on it anyway an maybe this slight weight change will bring the nose down just enough to make it ride better. I think I want a jackplate but I've never had one or dealt with one. I'm going to continue tweaking the boat this winter, doing little things to make it faster. The outboard is a johnson so I don't there is much I can do, maybe I shoud look for an old blackmax 150.

hobbies this expensive and addictive should be illeagle

Go for the jackplate, they are not scarey to run and will make the boat much more versital. You can try adding some negative trim wedges between the engine and transome, this will allow you to get more negative trim on the bow to improve your low speed ride. (you wont be able to throw as big a roost but its a price to pay for ride)

Thanks for posting the picture of our boat. It's a 98 253 Convincor that we bought new at Lake of the Ozarks 6 years ago. We have enjoyed the 330 hours of trouble free boating. The boat is equipped with a 300 hp 454, and while it's not the fastest boat on our lake, nothing our size rides as good as a "mate".

No, but what you pay for a new boat now, something should come with it. The picture was taken during a poker run on Kentucky lake about 3 years ago. I've always like the way it looks and usually use the picture when I want to show the boat.

Here is a picture of TLT's boat. I'm sure this one will be "Gus" approved.

Thanks for posting this shot Chris.

Just a quick description of where and when.
This was taken on 9/21/2003, off of Long Island, New Yorks' south shore. For those of you who might not know, this is in the ocean. This was the first weekend after Hurricane Isabel. The marine forecast was for huge swells. As you can see there were no big swells, just rough enough to have fun and calm enough to go fast and be safe. The photographer is a friend of mine, who was riding in his brothers '88 251 Convincor. We were cruising at about 60 MPH. He ended up with a sore face after having the camera smash into his nose several times while bouncing over waves.

Here is a pic Sabado sent over. Lookin' good.

I just have to know where to get a extension pole for skiing. I have seen those ones that mount just forward of the outboard! Where can I get one???
